4 December 2012 11:00 AM, PST | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

There's an old saying in fashion: "Don't let the clothes wear you." And when the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show airs Tuesday, Dec. 4, on CBS, viewers will see 40 of the world's most beautiful models taking that phrase quite literally.

From Miranda Kerr to Alessandra Ambrosio to Candice Swanepoel, the annual holiday special highlights the miracles that can occur when a push-up bra meets a hot glue gun. As usual, it not only showcases the latest lines of unmentionables from Victoria's Secret in various themes and fantasy settings; it also gives viewers a dazzling entertainment smorgasbord as this year's musical performers include Justin Bieber, Rihanna and Bruno Mars. (Rumor has it Mr. Bieber was very busy that night.)

Zap2it was lucky enough to be on hand for the show, and we promise you there is not a weak moment to be found. And while we were there, we thought we'd have Todd Thomas, »

The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show went down in NYC on Nov. 8, with appearances from their most famous Angels, Miranda Kerr, Alessandra Ambrosio, and Adriana Lima - and you can see all the fun for yourself when the full program airs tonight at 10 p.m. on CBS! Miranda, Alessandra, and Adriana were joined by a handful of newcomers on the runway, including Cara Delevingne and Jessica Hart. The models strutted their stuff on the runway in six separate sections. Adriana opened the first portion, which had a "Circus" theme featuring acrobats and performers on mini Segways. Earlier in the day, Miranda Kerr told us backstage she was most excited for the circus bit. She said, "I'm amazed at what they can do with their bodies!" The five following sections included "Dangerous Liaisons," "Calendar Girls," "Pink Is Us," "Silver Screen Angels," and "Angels in Bloom" motifs. There were a handful of memorable »

Win Tickets to See Glenn Close at the Paramount

4 December 2012 8:00 AM, PST | Slackerwood | See recent Slackerwood news »

I love watching movies at The Paramount -- the ambience and responsive audiences more than make up for the, er, austere theater seats. I still remember the fun of watching Office Space there. But the theater also hosts a number of film-related events throughout the year. Earlier this year, Spike Lee showed up to screen Summer of Sam. Next year's performances include one-person shows from William Shatner and Oliver Stone.

And on Thursday night (Dec. 6), the Paramount is bringing us "An Evening with Glenn Close," in which the actress will tell stories about her life and career. Looking at Glenn Close's filmography, it can't help but be fascinating. And if you haven't bought tickets yet, Slackerwood has a pair of tickets to give away!

I'll make this super-easy: Simply post a comment below mentioning your favorite Glenn Close movie role: Dangerous Liaisons, 101 Dalmatians, Hook ... whatever you like best. (Mine »

Dangerous Liaisons

26 November 2012 9:31 AM, PST | Pastemagazine.com | See recent PasteMagazine news »

Adaptations of classic stories like Dangerous Liaisons are always difficult, paradoxical even. The new piece must evoke the memory and energy of the original, even as it branches out and liberates itself, creating a new and distinctive work of art. This year’s Dangerous Liaisons branches in major ways, most obviously in its 1930s China setting, and although one cannot help but compare it to Stephen Frears’ (essentially incomparable) 1988 film starring Glenn Close and John Malkovich, Jin-ho Hur’s Dangerous Liaisons brings a welcome addition to the collection of adaptations of the French classic novel Les Liaisons Dangereuses by Choderlos de »

Jin Ho Hur's Visually Excellent "Dangerous Liaisons" Has Beautiful People Behaving Badly

10 November 2012 3:30 PM, PST | JustPressPlay.net | See recent JustPressPlay news »

The classic French novel Les Liaisons Dangereuses, by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos, has had its fair share of adaptations (from the Glenn Close/John Malkovich film Dangerous Liaisons to the contemporary teen re-imagining Cruel Intentions); and now it gets a Chinese one. In this Dangerous Liaisons, 1930s Shanghai is the stand-in for 18th century France, a perfectly extravagant setting for this game of sex and love.

Notorious playboy Xie Yifan (Jang Dong-kun) and banking mogul Mo Jieyu (Cecilia Cheung) are wealthy members of Shanghai society who have an intense, ongoing flirtation. Despite said flirtation, both concern themselves with bedding whichever men or women they taking a liking to. Xie has recently set his sights on his distant cousin Du Fenyu (Ziyi Zhang), who is the model of innocence and grace. Mo, believing this conquest to be nearly impossible, bets that Xie won’t succeed. He quickly rises to the bait, »

Same Old Song: Jin-Ho Adapts Latest Version of Overproduced Classic

It seems there are some tales we can just never get enough of. While mainstream cinema endlessly remakes itself, super hero franchises rebooted, often more than once in the same decade, the art house crowd has its predilection for familiarity as well. If it’s not another adaptation of Shakespeare’s something or other, there’s a plethora of other canonical texts that cross multicultural barriers, and one of those happens to be Pierre Choderlos de Laclos’ 18th century novel, Dangerous Liaisons, which has just been remade as a co-production between China and Singapore, helmed by Hur Jin-Ho, the award winning Chinese-South Korean director of Christmas In August (1998). Several definitive versions from several countries already exist, and here we have this lurid tale of mind games and sexual manipulation transported to 1931 Shanghai. While this is certainly one lavishly mounted production, »

Photos: Rihanna Stuns At Victoria's Secret Fashion Show

8 November 2012 7:23 AM, PST | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

New York — Rihanna rocked lingerie at Wednesday night's Victoria's Secret fashion show in New York, providing the highlight of the live-music soundtrack and holding her own on the catwalk with some of the world's top models.

And those models even had props, including Adriana Lima's ringmaster wand, Doutzen Kroes' body cage and several pairs of the oversized wings that the retailer has made its signature. It would be a close contest who got the biggest wings: Toni Garrn's giant poppy pair or Miranda Kerr's swan-style feathered pouf. Only Lily Aldridge could boast star-spangled wings that shot out silver sparkles.

Alessandra Ambrosio's orchid-petal wings might have lacked a little grandeur, but she made up for it with a $2.5 million jeweled "floral fantasy bra."

Still, wearing a sheer pink mini that gave glimpses of her bra, Rihanna sang "Fresh Out the Runway" at the end of the corset-and-garter »

In Honor of Jodie Foster's Lifetime Achievement Award, Let's Pick Her 5 Most Underrated Achievements in Film

2 November 2012 7:01 AM, PDT | The Backlot | See recent The Backlot news »

Jodie Foster will be the newest recipient of the Golden Globes' Cecil B. De Mille Lifetime Achievement Award this winter, which makes her one of the youngest to take the title. (Judy Garland was 39, for the record -- Foster is 49.) As long as I've watched movies, I've found Foster a singular and interesting presence on film. I can't say that about many former child stars. Though if Tiffany Brissette wants to star in robo-version of Nell any time soon, I guarantee I'll be the first in line.

To honor Foster's achievement, I thought we'd highlight her lesser-known achievements. Here are my five favorite tidbits.

1. She beat Meryl, Glenn, Thelma, and Louise at the Oscars.

The two-time Oscar winner picked up Best Actress statuettes for 1988's The Accused (which, I have to say, is a dated, melodramatic joke of a movie) and The Silence of the Lambs (which is only the »

Us Trailer And Poster For Chinese Dangerous Liaisons Remake

Chinese/South Korean co-production based on the classic French novel ‘Les Liaisons dangereuses’ by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos gets the official Us release trailer as well as teaser poster.

Director Jin-ho Hur’s adaptation of the 1782 French romance novel is not a remake of the 1988 Glenn Close-John Malkovich film, which is certainly the most popular adaptation.

The romance blockbuster which is pretty close to the book stars stunning Zhang Ziyi (Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon,) as Du Fenyu – an update on virtuous Madame de Tourvel, with Jang Dong-gun (Tae Guk Gi, The Warrior’s Way) as Xie Yifan.

Also featuring Hong Kong actress Cecilia Chung, who plays the seductress, with Shawn Dou and Lisa Lu, the film, which takes place in 1930s Shanghai, is expected to open in limited release on November 9th, 2012.

Feline Oscar Twins: Anne & Michelle?

In the hall of fame of superhero/villain catchphrases “oops” (Anne Hathaway, The Dark Knight Rises) never stood much of a prayer against “me-ow” (Michelle Pfeiffer, Batman Returns), nor could the dark side self importance of 2012’s “there’s a storm coming Mr Wayne” ever best the sexier playful 1992 ‘dark side?’ retort “no darker than yours Bruce”  But catch phrases aren’t everything...even when you've got zingy ones like "life's a bitch now so am I" In the great Catwoman wars of popular culture, it’s always in some ways a draw. Upcoming French thriller Love Crime has been billed as a blend of Working Girl and Fatal Attraction, or Dangerous Liaisons with Blackberries. Or Disclôsure. Whatever hokey tag we give it - and trust us, we can do this all day - it unquestionably features twisted business exec Kristin Scott Thomas doing things that would give your average Hr person an aneurysm. The film has a new international trailer, showing Ludivine Sagnier as Isabelle. She's a young executive who must negotiate an unusually stressful workplace. The company is presided over with bullying efficiency by Scott Thomas's boss Christine, a figure of hero-worship for the young employee, and, if this promo is anything to go by, a nasty piece of work.  Isabelle looks ill-equipped to deal with the power games and psychological manipulations that follow. A brutal crime is committed, the police are involved and Isabelle is left to fish herself out of the ensuing mess, »
