The theme of this film is street gangs in a major fued. Very graphic violence is showcased in the film, such as frequent shootings, in which blood is drawn, as well as a fist fight between a officer and a gang member and a kid getting beat up as part of a gang initiation. There are some moments of police brutality. There is also a drive-by shooting occuring at a church, but no one is injured. That scene leads to a chase scene involving the cops and a few gang members that ends with the gang-members' vehicle crashing and exploding.

Frequent R-rated language is heard

There is consumption of alcohol as well as use of marijuana. Crack dealing is also involved and one character is implied to on PCP.

Scenes of gang-related shootings/killings as well as a scene where one of the main characters dies can be very intense for some viewers.
