Clara Mayfield: Only one place I can think of.
Blanche Loudon: Dahn talk dat way. Anly looooow class people talk dat way.
Clara Mayfield: Child, dan't encourage him.
Clara Mayfield: Why do you touch me like that?
David Hart: Like what?
Clara Mayfield: Like that!
David Hart: I'm sorry.

David Hart: Well, it's pretty goddamn ostentatious if you ask me, but of course that's just a kid's opinion. I mean, I don't even speak Italian. Are you sexually involved with my father?
Dora: [in Jamaican patois] Where you get dis here white child Miz Blanche?
David Hart: [in Jamaican patois] She get me at a church bazaar. I was lef' dere in da manger.
Blanche Loudon: [in Jamaican patois] I should be slappin' yer backside fer all da trouble ya givin' my Clara.
David Hart: [also in Jamaican patois] Oh no sweet dahlin'; dat's anudda moo-moo ya talkin' 'bout. See, dis child is meek and give da woman nuttin' but joy.
