You know the theory that fans only accuse a show of bad writing when things happen that they don't like? Last night's season finale proves that theory wrong, at least as far as Klaine and Brittana fans go.
See, I can imagine a brilliantly written episode full of things all those fans, including me, would have hated. I have no trouble envisioning a phenomenally plotted season finale in which either or both couples break up, or at least suffer huge relationship angst. That episode could have been so well written we'd have all been crying and writhing on the floor and breaking Tumblr with our grief. And it might have made me want to die, but I wouldn't have said it was badly written.
But those things didn't happen. Kurt and Blaine are strongly together, and we didn't get any hint or suggestion that they would be anywhere but still »

Update: Annie’s recap is live.
Skylar Laine (pictured, far left) misses her deer-killin’ gun so much, but you know what she can’t shoot? The giant animated eagle behind her in the gaudy Idol Oval during Bette Midler’s “Wind Beneath My Wings”! Because she’s flying so high above it, and because it’s not real! The country rocker surprised everyone by taking on the inspirational Beaches ballad. It was the showcase for Skylar’s big voice the judges had been waiting for after she landed in the bottom three last week.

The characters on ABC’s Once Upon a Time sure have a lot to deal with these days, and two characters’ troubles are going to send them right to the couch of the town’s resident psychologist, Archie Hopper (Raphael Sbarge).
“David’s got problems,” star Josh Dallas told the crowd during the Once panel at PaleyFest, after it was revealed that David and Mr. Gold (Robert Carlyle) would be soon seeking therapy from the doc, who also currently treats young Henry (Jared Gilmore). “He’s got a lot of things he’s trying to figure out. He was in a coma for 28 years… »

Academy Award nominee Barbara Hershey has landed a mother of a role on ABC’s Once Upon a Time, as the very woman who brought the Evil Queen into this world — or, to be more precise, into the fairytale world, TVLine has learned.
Hershey, who is also an Emmy and Golden Globe winner for her role in the 1990 TV-movie A Killing in a Small Town, will first appear as the queen’s mum, Cora, later this season, with the option of also having a short arc in Season 2 (if/when the fantastical drama conjures up a renewal this spring).

Like mother, like daughter?
We’ll find out soon enough if that’s the case for the Evil Queen. The show has just cast veteran actress Barbara Hershey to play her mother — with a bit of twist.
Hershey (Black Swan, Beaches) has been tapped for a guest role this season and a three-episode arc in the show’s Next season. That’s right, season 2.
While ABC has yet to announce a second season, the move is a bit of a no-brainer. The show was the highest-rated new drama of the season and has maintained steady numbers, with the last new episode garnering over 10 million viewers. »

The days of stifling your tears in the theater are over! Indeed, wails are welcomed at New York's 92nd Street Y TriBeCa, which is ushering in a new brand of interactive movie watching: communal crying! On January 28, the 92nd Street Y will kick off this cry-fest with a screening of 1988's "Beaches." The goal is to "experience this tearjerker in an environment where shameless weeping is encouraged." Tissues will also be available. "Beaches," directed by Garry Marshall, narrates the lifelong friendship of Bette Midler and Barbara Hershey -- love triangles, failed marriages, motherhood -- ending with (sniffle) a terminal illness. Despite critical scorn, the film has muscled its way into the tearjerker hall of fame and thanks to Midler's karaoke-approved ballad, "Wind Beneath My Wings," "Beaches" has remained (mostly with a wink) a part of popular culture. Cristina Cacioppo, the film programmer at the 92nd Street Y TriBeCa, said choosing »
