Missed My Name Is Earl? Time to atone

The karma-fuelled comedy My Name Is Earl is getting daily repeats on E4 – and there are plenty of reasons to catch up
My Name Is Earl is back. No, they're not making any new episodes – although one never knows with Us TV – but Earl is getting repeated, daily on E4 from tonight, which is good news for the many fans of the show and even better news for those who somehow eluded its charms over its 96-episode run.
When Earl first hit in 2005, it hit big. Impressive ratings in the States earned it a decent, prominent slot in the schedules here – unlike, say, the massively underrated and still brilliant King Of The Hill. The story of a man with a huge list of misdeeds to atone for, Earl hit its stride almost immediately. The karma-fuelled plotlines twisted and turned while exploring the locale of Camden County and its colourful denizens.

This week saw the opening of two new Broadway productions, both revivals: The Neil Simon Plays: Brighton Beach Memoirs, a comedy-drama starring former Roseanne star Laurie Metcalf (left), which I described as "a fine revival, easily the best show of a young Broadway season," and the musical Finian's Rainbow, which Tanner Stransky called "an odd, farcical muscial" that is "well cast and smartly performed."

Ellen Page: The Juno star grew up climbing trees and playing with action figures, and she did her own roller-derby stunts in Whip It . Eastwick's Sara Rue On Her Own Facebook Movie, Acting Politics and Being Harassed by Andy Dick

Although she is best known for her work in Less Than Perfect and Popular, Sara Rue has built a comprehensive resume dating back to her starring role in NBC's Grand and a Roseanne cameo as a younger version of the star, blockbuster parts (Pearl Harbor, The Ring) and the occasional reality appearances (Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List, E! Hollywood Hold'em). These days, Rue plays Eastwick's most suspicious resident -- the younger, spunkier Gladys Kravitz of ABC if you will -- while developing her own feature film and scouting her next sitcom gig. Movieline spoke to Rue two weeks ago about all of this and Andy Dick as her dogs barked in the background.

Danielle Harris, star of four films in the Halloween franchise, as well as pictures like The Last Boyscout, City Slickers, Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead, and the television series Roseanne was kind enough to sit down with me at the 2009 Spooky Empire convention in Orlando, Florida to talk about her career. The interview was filmed live, but due to surrounding noise I have transcribed the conversation below.
Ja/Fangoria: First of all, can I say how nervous I am that we are making a film with John Landis sitting right over there?
Danielle Harris: (laughs)
Ja: We're here at the Spooky Empire convention in Orlando, Florida, and how has it been going for you so far?
Dh: It's been good! It's been really busy.
Ja: Have you met any creeps so far?
Dh: Not really at this show, only a handful. (laughs)
Ja: You actually lived here in Florida,

Check out a sneak peek clip from the upcoming episode called "Relax, Don't Do It" from ABC's comedy "Hank."
The show airs on October 21st at 8:00 p.m. Et.
Starring Kelsey Grammer, this hilarious family comedy mixes genuine, heart-warming moments with Grammer’s trademark blustery humor. The series is written by “Everybody Loves Raymond’s” three-time Emmy Award-winning Tucker Cawley, and co-executive produced by Grammer along with Mike Clements (“The Life & Times of Tim”) and Emmy Award-winning producer Tom Werner (“The Cosby Show,” “Roseanne,” “Grace Under Fire”)

TV Review: Promising ‘The Middle’ With Patricia Heaton, Neil Flynn

Chicago – Just as Kelsey Grammer returns to familiarly snobby territory with “Hank,” his “Back to You” co-star Patricia Heaton returns to the life of the harried matriarch with “The Middle,” but the results are vastly different. Where “Hank” feels like a relic, “The Middle” updates the working mother for a new generation and mostly delivers.
Television Rating: 3.5/5.0
Not as daring as “Modern Family” but nearly as funny, “The Middle” works because of the fearlessness of its cast, primarily Heaton, who proves that she was just as essential an element to the success of “Everybody Loves Raymond” as Ray Romano, Brad Garrett, Doris Roberts, or Peter Boyle. But, as “Hank” proves, one talented lead does not a sitcom make and “The Middle” has potential because of its interesting and diverse supporting cast and its often-clever writing.

The Big Bang Theory's Johnny Galecki Talks TV Physics, Fans and Cutthroat Ping Pong

In the early '90s, Johnny Galecki began his sitcom career on the Chuck Lorre-produced Roseanne as the intelligent, super-sensitive boyfriend of Darlene Conner, played by Sara Gilbert. Over a decade later, Galecki stars on the Chuck Lorre-created Big Bang Theory as an intelligent, socially unaware Caltech physicist, where once more he occasionally finds himself onscreen with Sara Gilbert. It could be luck, divine intervention or Chuck Lorre's loyalty that brought Galecki back into the fold of America's favorite sitcoms, but the Belgian-born actor credits his fans entirely.
Movieline shared a drink with Galecki a while back at the Television Critics Association event for CBS, where he discussed Big Bang's incredible viewer support, the learning curve of a TV physicist and why he still hasn't visited Caltech.

DVD Review: Great Second Season of ‘The Big Bang Theory’ Deserves Better Set

»
Chicago – CBS’ “The Big Bang Theory” had a good first season but, like a lot of sitcoms, it became much more confident in season two and really developed a rhythm that I expect will carry it for years to come. Don’t believe me? Check out the nearly-perfect and Emmy-nominated second season of “The Big Bang Theory,” now available on DVD.
DVD Rating: 3.0/5.0
The first season of “The Big Bang Theory” set up the concept - two dorky guys, their two even dorkier friends, and the pretty girl who lives across the hall. The set-up was funny, the cast was good, but it was sometimes predictable and stale.
The Big Bang Theory: The Complete Second Season was released on DVD on September 15th, 2009.
Photo credit: Warner Brothers Home Video
The brilliance of the second season was that it took the pretty girl across the hall and made her one of the guys.

The Big Bang Theory is back with, you got it, a bang. The comedy, which follows the interactions between four nerds (Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar) and a hot girl (Kaley Cuoco), just kicked off its 3rd season on CBS, and things are about to get crazy. Leonard (Galecki), one of the nerds, and Penny (Cuoco), the hot girl, realize they're genuinely into each other and they, well, they do the deed. And doing the deed -- which actually is more bust than bang -- will have huge repercussions on everyone. PopStar recently caught up with Galecki for the following exclusive interview, in which he talked about the questions fans most often ask him, why he likes Leonard, and what else -- beyond that big bang -- fans can expect during season three of The Big Bang Theory. You've been at Comic-Con a couple of times now

Joss Whedon: Master of cult TV

For the second class in our EW University course on TV Auteurs, Prof. Adam B. Vary offers this overview of the TV career of Joss Whedon, from Buffy the Vampire Slayer to Dollhouse. Also, check out this photo gallery of our favorite shows by four legendary showrunners.
What Stephen Bochco (Hill Street Blues, L.A. Law, NYPD Blue), Norman Lear (All in the Family, The Jeffersons), and Rod Serling (The Twilight Zone) were in the 20th century television, Joss Whedon has become today: Nothing less than a television brand. His name alongside the "Created by" credit during the opening titles guarantees you are about to watch a show that swings for the fences; a show as keenly attuned to its female characters as its male ones; a show that tackles Big Ideas and Big Themes without skimping on Great Entertainment; a show that is unafraid to Go There, from allowing the

Home Improvement creators hoping to revitalize the family sitcom

Matt Williams has an impressive sitcom pedigree. He created the quintessential '90s sitcom with Roseanne. Then, with Carmen Finestra and David McFadzean alongside, he struck gold again with Tim Allen's Home Improvement. Now they're hoping lightning can strike twice (thrice?) with another take on the traditional family sitcom for ABC.
Once a television staple, the family sitcom has probably never seen leaner days than right now. But with the multi-camera format making a comeback, there's no better time to test the waters. This time, the family will be a sports psychologist who works out of his home, along with his three kids and presumably a wife.
The big difference between this project and Williams' other two successes is the lack of an established comedian at the center of it. One could easily argue that both Roseanne and Home Improvement were just expansions of the stage acts of their respective stars.

One of our favorite TV ladies is pregnant! Sources confirm to E! News that Sarah Chalke is going to have her first baby this winter. The kiddo's father is Chalke's fiancé, Jamie Afifi, an entertainment lawyer.
Chalke is probably best known for playing neurotic doc Elliot Reid on Scrubs, but she also recently starred in Lifetime's Maneater movies and did a stint as Becky No. 2 on Roseanne during the 1990s.
Chalke's Scrubs costar Judy Reyes (nurse Carla Espinosa) is also pregnant. Reyes is due in November.
Neither lady is expected to be a regular on ABC's new, reworked version of Scrubs, but we just talked to series boss Bill Lawrence and learned how Elliot and Carla could still be in

DVD Review: ‘Parker Lewis Can’t Lose’ The Complete First Season

On September 2 1990, just in time for the beginning of my junior year of high school, Fox debuted a new show called Parker Lewis Can’t Lose. With cautious optimism I, along with millions of other American teenage girls, watched and calculated whether or not we’d have to make room on our walls next to Corey Haim and Jason Bateman for a Corin Nemic “Tiger Beat” poster. The next day, pushpins in hand, I started making new holes in that wall.
With Ferris Buehler still fresh in our minds, and starving for some teen comedy after years of The Golden Girls, Roseanne and Cheers, Parker Lewis showed up just in time to offer some blatant silliness with memorable characters, timely jokes and creative effects. Taking place at Santo Domingo High School, Parker (Corin Nemec) who narrates the show, and his two partners in crime, Mikey (Billy Jayne, better known as

Roseanne Barr is Hitler

I recognize that many celebrities are into the whole "controversy" thing in an effort to remain relevant, but Roseanne Barr took it one step further. She dressed up as a baking Hitler and I think her cookies are supposed to be Jews. The fact that she apparently did it for a Jewish magazine called Heeb makes me shake my head in wonder even more. Did someone there think this was a good idea, or were they just trying to create controversy?
Apparently, her photo did cause some controversy among the Jewish community, and Roseanne posted a response of her own on her blog. Uh, yeah. This is a move that makes about as much sense as singing "The Star Spangled Banner" off key at a sporting event, something else Ms. Barr has done in her sordid past. If the Jews do, in fact, run Hollywood, then Roseanne may have just blacklisted herself.

Roseanne Barr, always good for a controversy, recently dressed up as a “Nazi domestic goddess” for Jewish magazine Heeb , causing quite a flap. “Yes, the story of this infamous satirist/Jewish grandmother pulling a tray of burnt ‘Jew cookies’ out of an oven has been making its way around the Internet,” writes publisher Joshua Neuman, but detractors are “ignoring the very particular context in which the image was created.” “ Heeb is a satirical Jewish culture magazine that interrogates stereotypes and ideas that many hold sacred in order to represent the complex and nuanced perspectives that many Jews have about their identities,

John Goodman, who starred as Dan Conner in 221 episodes of ABC’s Roseanne, has signed on to star in the Fox sitcom pilot The Station. Ben Stiller’s Red Hour Films is developing the project.
The Station revolves around a group of lackluster CIA operatives at a covert South American outpost, where they're charged with installing a new dictator. Goodman will play Ted Gannon, a gruff CIA vet and head of its Altamara Station.
The actor joins a cast that includes Justin Bartha (National Treasure, The Hangover), Whitney Cummings (Made of Honor), Rob Huebel (Human Giant) and Julio Oscar Mechoso (Planet Terror).
Since Roseanne ended its nine season run in 1997, Goodman has twice unsuccessfully returned to the sitcom world. In 2000 he starred in Normal, Ohio, which lasted 7 episodes, and in 2004 he starred alongside Jean Smart in 12 episodes of Center of the Universe. The actor also lent his voice to the
