Kenner Toy Company created an action figure line based on this series. Figures were released of Mahoney, Hightower, Tackleberry, Jones, Zed, Sweetchuck, House and the ultra-rare mailaway Captain Harris. Villain figures included Kingpin, Mr. Sleaze, Numbskull, Claw and Flung Hi. A Callahan figure was rumored to be in the works, but plans were shelved when the series was canceled.
A comic book based on the Police Academy animated series was produced by Marvel Comics in 1989, lasting only six issues before its cancellation. It is believed that the use of Kingpin as one of the villains in this series was due to the brand's affiliation with Marvel.
A video game was in the works for this series but after the show's cancellation, development stopped. The game was to feature several puzzle games and a few police training scenarios such as target practice and a police cycle avoiding objects. No screen shots were shown, but an interview appeared in the 1991 issue of Game Dish with developer Matsuo Hoganori and David J. Smithe, who revealed it was the first game they worked on together. However, the only thing that physically was produced was the title screen and a non finished sprite of Lassard's goldfish.
