Season 9, Episode 9: Underdogs

11 November 1996
When the gang gets the TV Q's and they see how low Miller's is, they think that he's on his way out but Kay says that as long as Miller is on Lansing's good side he's not going anywhere. When Miller sees his numbers, he asks Murphy if he should play hardball with Lansing when he renegotiates his contracts. At first Murphy was about to tell him that's absurd but she then tells him that he should and makes up a thing called the Underdog theory which she says that since he's at the bottom, he can only go up. So he and his agent go to Lansing and ask for a raise and they get kicked out. That's when Murphy tells them to make a ruckus, which gets Miller fired. When the gang learns what Murphy did they go to Miller to tell him that the Underdog theory is bogus. So they go to his place and they find him partying like crazy. He thinks that it's only a matter of time before he gets a new offer. When they tell him, he goes into shock cause he just spent all of his money. Murphy offers to find him a job but no luck. Later his agent shows up with offers from other networks. That's when Lansing shows up and offers to give him a big raise. Murphy is shocked that Lansing is doing this. He says he has to cause Miller is hot property. Later Frank goes to Lansing asking for a raise and throws things around and Lansing belts him.
