Australian television at it's very worst!
22 August 2007 | by (Australia) – See all my reviews

I am an Aussie.. this show has been on my television set at 7pm every night for the past 18 years of my life.. and I honest do not know why. It is the WORST television programme your ever gonna find. It's kind of ashame cause a lot of people seem to like this garbage and I have no idea why. It's not realistic, its pathetic. It's basically about a whole bunch of teenies 'falling in love' (only they go through more boyfriends and girlfriends then Hugh Heifner). I swear, I'm surprised the writers haven't started hooking some of those kids up with their parents yet. Get some incest in the show... or perhaps that's already been done? I forget. Either way, you get my point.

Every season "finale" has at least one death, or one major tragedy.. and they just happen to be the most predictable cases in the world. If a guy starts getting interested in cars -- I'd stake my life that he'll have an major crash before the series is out. And I ask why? Why is the writing so predictable... and what do people see in it? I ask my mother the same question all the time "why do you watch this?!" and she just replies "i dunno".. and neither do I.

This is one mystery I think I'll take to my grave... why hasn't Home & Away been canceled. And its actually funny to hear people say "this is a great representation of Australian lifestyle" -- well let me assure you: its not. Its FAR from real. If every town was like Summer Bay then Australia would be nothing more than 3rd world wasteland. Cause we've seen everything from fires, to buildings falling, to title-waves, to storms, to lightening strikes, to floods, to major accidents, and even serial killers... and summer bay has what? A population of around 500? Hmm... yeah it's funny that.
