Griffiths Is Homesick On Broadway

20 November 2008 8:02 AM, PST | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Actor Richard Griffiths is homesick for Britain, just two months into his run in the Broadway production of Equus.

The star, famous for his role as Uncle Monty in cult movie Withnail + I, is finding the glamour of New York City no substitute for his native London.

And he has completely lost touch with all the gossip and news back home.

He complains, "I've been here since August. I've no idea what's going on. Has the money gone to pieces? I miss home hugely. I can't wait to go back. I miss nice things. Tea... scones."

The only consolation for Griffiths is that the Big Apple's current cold spell makes it feel almost like England.

He adds: "At least the weather's the same." »

Ritchie Movie Tops Best London Film Set List

24 October 2008 12:05 AM, PDT | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Guy Ritchie's film Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels has topped a poll to find the best movie set in London.

The 1998 gangster film saw off competition from Simon Pegg's zombie comedy Shaun Of The Dead which came in second place in the poll.

In third was horror movie 28 Days Later, followed by Hugh Grant romantic-comedy Love Actually.

Rounding out the top five was Withnail + I, in the survey which was timed to coincide with the London Film Festival, currently happening in the British capital.

Bridget Jones's Diary, An American Werewolf In London, Notting Hill, Snatch and The Long Good Friday made up the rest of the top ten. »
