Give this review half weight
4 February 2016 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

Give this review half weight because after watching the first half in real time, I used the fast forward button thereafter. This movie just didn't hold my attention. To me it dragged and seemed unengaging. David Keith does fine acting. Cathy Moriarty is okay as a Faye Dunaway disciple. Alan Rosenberg's character is obnoxious and annoying. There aren't enough suspects to make this a mystery, much less a good mystery.

The story-telling seemed overdone to me. That impression started right from the initial sequence with all sorts of things in bright colors (mainly red) being smashed up in a murder sequence. The giallos somehow did this better with more restraint and suspense. Too much attempt at style and not enough substance to the story eventually tired me out to where I didn't have the patience to continue at slow speed. To all those who think the movie is a brilliant work, more power to you, but I think it's more or less average. The flashbacks simply didn't engage me, and the characters didn't provide enough foreshadowing to build up suspense.
