One half - good, one half - bad

Aargh! If only the filmmakers had kept this movie going in the direction that it started out in. Several good ideas were introduced in the beginning for both characters (Mark McClure's terrible dates, the job that he has but has no idea what he is suppose to be doing and Jennifer Edwards' job at the video store and her inability to leave school) but once they meet and start the romance (and I assume the ensuing hilarity) the movie just becomes painfully obvious and heads down the well-trodden path of mishaps and break-ups that leads to the (surprise! surprise!) romantic ending. McClure and Edwards are likeable enough and they deserve better than this half-baked script.
