Perfect for fans of romance and humor
17 December 2003 | by (Toledo, Ohio) – See all my reviews

Tim (Marc McClure) is a late twenty-something businessman whose mother still cleans his apartment. He likes basketball, watching television, and little else. Nancy (Jennifer Edwards), a shy video store clerk, takes classes at the university on topics such as Pre-Columbian Cubism. When Tim stumbles into a newspaper match-making business, he sets up a lovelorn ad to impress the newspaper's secretary. The ad runs, with humorous results. Urged by a friend to do something to jumpstart her lovelife, Nancy answers Tim's ad, also. Although polar opposites in almost every way, Nancy and Tim each pretend to be someone they're not. They meet. Initially, things go well. But, will love last when the couple's true selves are revealed?

This lesser-known film is, nonetheless, a romantic comedy fan's delight. McClure and Edwards are both quite adorable as the oddballs who learn to look at life with fresh perspectives. Although this is obviously a low-budget movie, the supporting cast does a fine job and the interiors of Tim and Nancy's apartments perfectly reflect their personalities. Movie enthusiasts will probably find it difficult to locate the film at the store or library; yet, fans of romance and humor should try to find it. An evening of pleasant diversion awaits those who succeed in tracking a copy down.
