Thor: Ragnarok is almost upon us. Now have our first look at what the movie could have look like were it released in 1987 instead of 2017. The 80s vibes have already been laid on pretty thick in the original trailer, with synthesizer scoring and logos that bare more than a passing resemblance to the mighty He Man and the Masters of the Universe. Ragnarok already looks like an awesome throwback. But what if the movie were actually made thirty years ago? What would the epic McU movie look like then?
The folks over at Nerdist just happen to hold the answer to all of our questions about Thor: Ragnarok as reimagined for 1987. Director Taika Waititi has spoken at length about how the movie pays homage to the classic sci-fi and fantasy movies of the 70s and 80s, so Nerdist doubled down and made a new trailer that shows off some of »

Star Wars Director
After the news last week that Colin Trevorrow had left Star Wars: Episode IX over “creative differences”, Disney and Lucasfilm officially announced that Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams will be stepping in to helm the galaxy far, far away again. I guess Patty Jenkins was busy? “With The Force Awakens, J.J. delivered everything we could have possibly hoped for, and I am so excited that he is coming back to close out this trilogy,” said Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy. Read more here.
Episode IX Pushed Back
And with that, it should come as no surprise that Star Wars: Episode IX has now been pushed back so new screenwriters Abrams and Chris Terrio can flesh out a new script. Episode IX will now open on December 20th 2019, putting it in competition with Universal’s Wicked and Sony’s Masters of the Universe. Read more here. »

Earlier today it was announced that J.J. Abrams is set to return to the galaxy far, far away to direct Star Wars: Episode IX, and now comes word that – just as he did with Star Wars: The Force Awakens – Abrams’ has had the release date of the 2019 sequel pushed back from May to December.
The news probably shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise in all honesty; last month, Jack Thorne (Skins) was brought in to work on Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly’s script, and given that Trevorrow has since been removed from the project entirely, it is probably safe to assume the script is far from being up to scratch.

Marvel movies are big business, from the Avengers franchise and all of the interconnected heroes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe on screens both big and small, to Fox's ever-expanding world of the X-Men and Deadpool, to the Sony steered Spider-man movies, going all the way back to Sam Raimi's original trilogy. But that doesn't mean every big name actor and A list talent in Hollywood wants to be associated with these characters. Some heavyweight actors have straight up said no way when Marvel came knocking. So, who would do such a thing?
Since becoming its own studio, which was later acquired by Disney in one of the biggest studio deals this side of Lucasfilm, Marvel has had no problem attracting top-tier A-list talent to its roster; the talent who commands major ticket grosses and critical acclaim alike. Who doesn't want to suit up as a one of Marvel's Merry Mutants, »
It will be awhile before we get the Masters of the Universe movie reboot. But the Money Super Market TV spots featuring He-Man and Skeletor might just make that long-gestating fantasy adventure obsolete. He-Man and arch-nemesis Skeletor seem to have settled their differences in this latest commercial, as they can be seen recreating the romantic dance scene from Dirty Dancing.
They probably just really need the money right now as they, and all of us wait for the new Masters of the Universe movie to finally happen. It's been 30 years since the Masters of the Universe movie hit theaters and it tanked in spectacular fashion, so fans have been waiting for a proper He-Man movie since the cartoon debuted in 1983. Maybe this new commercial is a hint of things to come for the 2 sworn enemies.
A price comparison website from the U.K., MoneySuperMarket, has brought He-Man and Skeletor together »
The live-action Masters of the Universe movie was a notorious critical & commercial flop. Here are the shocking facts about the film’s production! »

How many actors have played Spider-Man? We've had more Spider-Man movies than there are Baldwin brothers, or Kardashian sisters. But so what? Everybody loves the friendly neighborhood webhead! It's been more than half a century since Amazing Fantasy #15 hit the stands and ever since Stan Lee and Steve Ditko gave us the kid who does whatever a spider can, Peter Parker's popularity has covered the world like a spider spinning its web. (Ugh sorry).
The wise cracking, hard working, hard luck hero is a young actor's dream. The number of guys who have wanted to get in that mask earned by Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland could fill a Spider-Verse movie packed with Miles Morales, Doc Ock, Spider-Gwen and every other comic version of the wall crawler. Here, we look at 10 Actors who were almost cast as Spider-Man. For whatever reason, they just didn't make it into that costume. »
Tom Jolliffe on those moments which made you love cinema…
It’s different for everyone and maybe for some it never happens. Not everyone (shock horror!) is into film. For those film buffs, nerds, geeks, or even merely casual enjoyers of cinematic delights, there are always defining moments. Maybe it’s a moment within a film. Maybe it’s a certain film as a whole. It’s never merely one moment either. Perhaps there’s a moment that re-affirms that love. A time with which the magic seemingly waned, but like a bolt of energy it re-emerged, flowing through you and reigniting your love of film.
As far as myself my love of cinema began young. That’s the case for most people. There were moments in films that brought about a level of excitement and wonder in me that hit the stratosphere. There was the simple glowing blade of the lightsaber. »

This week Charlize Theron heads up Atomic Blonde. Set in 1980’s Berlin, the film tells the story of Lorraine Broughton, an MI6 agent tasked with tracking down a highly sought after list of double agents. It’s a neon-soaked, action-noir thriller directed by David Leitch, one half of the John Wick directing dream team. Lorraine is a lady who knows how to handle herself. With Charlize channelling her inner Keanu, the old co-stars actually trained together; she demonstrates that she can most definitely hold her own. She’s not the first kick-ass blonde to grace our screens though, and it got us thinking about our other favourite atomic blondes…
Potentially the first atomic blond, Dolph Lundgren burst onto the scene in the 1980’s with back-to-back roles in A View to a Kill and Rocky IV. However, in these films he’s a supporting player. In order for him to »

Masters of the Universe was released 30 years ago today and the movie is still just as decisive as it was back when it originally hit theaters. Some hail it as a cult classic and some call it one of the worst movies ever made thanks to cheesy comedy and a less than stellar performance from star Dolph Lundgren. Lundgren at that point had only been in two movies prior to Masters of the Universe, and neither of them had very many speaking roles, if at all. Apparently the Swedish actor had a pretty good contract for Masters of the Universe that protected his full performance from being tampered with.
The Hollywood Reporter reveals via the documentary, Toy Masters, that muscular He-Man star Dolph Lundgren had a very difficult time delivering the lines for the movie. A Mattel executive in the documentary says that Lundgren's contract allowed him three attempts to »

The towering, muscle-bound Swedish actor had a bit part in the 1985 James Bond film A View to a Kill, but was better known for another role he played that year, that of the imposing Russian boxer Ivan Drago (who had only nine lines) in Rocky IV.
So, when it was time for him to take up the mantle as He-Man, there were concerns, not so much whether he looked the part, but if the audience would even »

That puts it opening one week before the Masters of the Universe reboot and a little over a week before the highly anticipated musical adaptation Wicked, but as of now Wonder Woman 2 is the only superhero movie set for release in December of that year. Warner Bros.' announcement for Wonder Woman 2 does … »
