What do you think of immediately when you think "exploding head"? Scanners, yes? Well, that film and many more are represented in a newly discovered "exploding head video montage" that culls many of our favorite scenes involving cranial damage.
From The Running Man to Chopping Mall, From Dusk Till Dawn to Dawn of the Dead, this is one video you may want to watch after setting aside your breakfast this morning. Kudos to the editing team for this wet, gruesome and loving display of carnage.

Black and Blue Films have released the first trailer for Elfie Hopkins which stars Jaime Winstone in the titlular role of a quirky “wanna-be” detective whose appetite for a real-life case is matched by the appetites of a new family, The Gammons, played by Rupert Evans (Hellboy) and Kate Magowan (Primeval), who move into the village.
Ray Winstone (father of Jaime) plays the local butcher in the film directed by Ryan Andrews, who also wrote the screenplay. The film also stars Aneurin Barnard (Ironclad), Kimberley Nixon (Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging, Easy Virtue), Will Payne and Kate Magowan.
Elfie Hopkins is a thriller inspired by the dark and glamorous worlds of films such as The Lost Boys and Brick. Set in the sleepy hunting village, it is the story of twenty-two year old slacker and “wanna-be” detective, Elfie Hopkins.
Elfie is a stoner and an animal lover in a village populated with hunters. »
After recently watching Trespass on Blu-ray, The Ward on Netflix Instant and catching J. Edgar on its early rollout, I began to notice a trend of legendary and/or highly touted filmmakers who have tailed off in recent years. So I began thinking of other helmers that have fallen onto similar hard times and came up with a list of nine who, in my opinion, have lost their fastball. It's important to note that while it's difficult to evaluate all of these directors on an equal scale, all of these names were selected based on one basic criteria: their recent output has failed to live up to their once impressive past. Outside the nine below, there were a few I others I considered. Directors such as Bryan Singer, Tim Burton, Stephen Frears and Cameron Crowe, but ultimately I didn't think their declines were as steep as those I chose to profile, »

The class that oozed out of every single minute of Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight has ensured its place in movie history. And as the unrelenting glut of superhero movies in the past 10 years finally dissipates, it’s pretty much the only one that will be a mainstay in top lists for many years to come. Couple this with the critical & commercial success of 2010’s Inception and it’s easy to understand why the final part of Nolan’s Batman trilogy is gearing up to be an absolute monster. The Dark Knight Rises is a long way from reaching our cinema screens but the intrigue and excitement that followed the announcement of the ‘bad-guy’, alongside the first teaser trailer, is the subtle opening string quartet for what is nearly sure to be a great big crescendo.
The bad guy in question? Bane.
Yes. Yes. Yes. Great choice. In general, »

Directed by young director Ryan Andrew, the film looks to be one of 1012′s most promising horrors. After catching a promo reel of the movie at FrightFest, Elfie Hopkins looks to be Black and Blue’s most aesthetically pleasing yet. The film stars Jaime Winstone as an aspiring teen detective who begins investigating a new mysterious family in the neighbourhood.
Producer Jonathan Sothcott says, ‘I’m really proud of Elfie. It is one of the most imaginative and original Brit films in years. Genius director Ryan Andrews has drawn inspiration from The Lost Boys, Hammer Horror and Tim Burton to deliver a different class of genre film. Anchored by a star making turn from Jaime Winstone as the iconic title character, this is our biggest and best movie yet and »

Ah, Halloween. A time to reflect on everything scary in life, be it Justin Beiber (who terrifies me), reality TV (Jeremy Kyle I’m looking at you) or even horror movies. Actually there’s nothing I like better than dipping into my vast DVD collection and pulling out some of my favourites to watch as the darkness closes in on this spooky day… I’m not the only one who looks to DVDs for Halloween entertainment it seems – the folks over at the Official Chart Company have compiled a Top 50 chart of the biggest-selling horror DVDs of all time, and there are some surprises, including a number one “horror” film that isn’t in the least bit frightening – unless you count the bad CGi of course! Check out the list:

Everybody has their favorite Halloween snack -- candy corn, Twizzlers, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups -- but according to the results of our ultimate Halloween poll, there's one food nobody will be eating this year: Pea soup.
The results are in and with almost 16 thousand votes, there's no doubt about it: "The Exorcist" has been named as the overwhelming choice for Scariest Movie of All Time, defeating runner-up "Paranormal Activity" by a nearly two-to-one margin.
So what other frightful features tickled your terror bone? Well, despite only managing a distant fourth in the Scariest Movie of All Time category, "A Nightmare on Elm Street" took home top honors in the race for Best Horror Franchise of All Time, earning 32 percent of the votes compared to 25 percent for second place finisher "Halloween."
But the real fireworks were in the individual categories. It's no surprise, of course, that "Twilight"'s Edward Cullen and »

As famed director Joel Schumacher puts it, his new film "Trespass" is ostensibly about the "haves" versus the "have nots," but only on its face. In the movie, Nicolas Cage and Nicole Kidman live a wealthy existence in an exclusive gated community. Everything is seemingly perfect: Cage is wrapped up in his business and Kidman is fascinated by the sexy new handy man (Cam Gigandet). But things start to unravel once "Animal Kingdom" star Ben Mendelsohn launches an armed home invasion of their mansion, and the film descends into betrayal, deception and other salacious labels.
Schumacher has delivered thirty years worth of memorable films, among them "St. Elmo's Fire," "The Lost Boys," "Falling Down" and "Tigerland," so it was a thrill for him to participate in our Call-In Commentary series, where directors provide narration for their movie trailers. In the video below, hear the "Trespass" filmmaker discuss Nicole's predilection for bare feet, »

Following on from the hordes of 'Six Degrees Of Hell' stills that have been spreading across the web of late it's nice to have a more animated peek at the new Joe Raffa movie. It stars Corey Feldman ('The Lost Boys') and now you can check out the new teaser trailer for the movie below. The new 60 second teaser has a bit of everything including a brief sound bite from Feldman himself. The teaser kinda made me feel like I was watching something cooked up by Rob Zombie - not necessarily a bad thing. Kyle Brennan, Ashley Sumner, Alexander Mandell, Jill Whelan, Brian Anthony Wilson, Joe Raffa, Nicole Cinaglia, David J. Bonner, Tereza Hakobyan, Faust Checho, Susan Moses, Gene Connelly and Brian Gallagher all co-star in the haunted house flick from writer/director Joe Raffa which was partially shot in the actual haunted attraction 'Hotel of Horror' in Pennsylvania. »

To tell you Trespass is terrible feels a bit disingenuous. On the one hand it's much worse than that, but on the other it could be looked at as being so bad it's brilliant. I guess it's best to say it's all a matter of perspective, but I can definitely imagine watching this trash again with a group of friends, having a few beers and loving every minute of it. But you can rest assured I will never watch this mess on my own ever again.
Billed as a home invasion thriller, Trespass begins with Kyle Miller (Nicolas Cage) on his way home to his palatial estate, wheeling and dealing as he drives, trying to do whatever he can to sell some diamonds as we get the impression this is a salesman on his last desperate leg.
At home it's a warm reception from his wife Sarah (Nicole Kidman), but »
