Exclusive Interview: Scream Park Writer/Director Cary Hill

30 May 2012 8:25 AM, PDT | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

Cary Hill is currently filming Scream Park, his homage to 80′s slasher films featuring Doug Bradley and Skinny Puppy lead singer Ogre. He was able to take some time away from filming to answer my questions about getting Doug Bradley on board, funding the project, and challenges faced during filming. We also have a brand new photo from the movie for you to check out:

Thank you for taking the time to talk with Daily Dead. What was your inspiration behind the setting and story of Scream Park?

Cary Hill: Inspiration struck as it always does: suddenly and in the strangest place. I was at a Great America Amusement Park in California for their Halloween Haunt when a friend mentioned how great a setting it would be for a horror movie. I agreed, but waved him off as “it had been done before.” I couldn’t shake the idea »

Chicago to Get Rarer Than Rare Screening of Restored Nightbreed (The Cabal Cut)!!!!

30 May 2012 8:02 AM, PDT | Twitch | See recent Twitch news »

This is major. Clive Barker's film Nightbreed is famous for being butchered at the last minute by 20th Century Fox. Besides trimming out all the violence (which is usually almost a character in and of itself in any Clive Barker film), the hacks also saw to it that the role of Suzi Quatro (best known as Leather Tuscadero from the show Happy Days) wound up completely on the editing floor.  Well Nightbreed has undergone a complete restoration! Can you take 155 minutes of Barkeree goodness?!  Restoration Director Russell Cherrington and Seraphim Films Creative Executive  Mark Miller will be on hand to discuss their plans for bringing NightBreed The Cabal Cut to BluRay and DVD. Also screening is Hellraiser. In short this is as Barkerlishus as it »

Icons Exclusive Interview: Director Darren Lynn Bousman

11 May 2012 9:46 PM, PDT | iconsoffright.com | See recent Icons of Fright news »

*Editor’s note: This interview originally appeared on Icons Of Fright’s sister site Massive Hysteria back in September of 2010. With this week’s DVD/Blu-Ray releases of both Mother’S Day and 11-11-11, we thought we’d present it again to the Icons audience completely unedited and uncut. Check it!

Considering director Darren Lynn Bousman’s impressive body of work, which spans over 3 Saw sequels, the crazy rock musical Repo! The Genetic Opera, an episode of NBC’s short lived Fear Itself TV series and the upcoming remake of Mother’S Day, it’s a surprise that we never got him in the hot seat for an extensive Icons Of Fright interview. So, with the launch of Massive Hysteria, we decided that he would make for the ideal interviewee to kick things off in style!

Bousman invited Mh over to his place for our career spanning lengthy chat, »

'Hellraiser Revelations' Review

4 May 2012 8:10 PM, PDT | MoreHorror | See recent MoreHorror news »

By Dan Slaten, MoreHorror.com

The Hellraiser series is full of bad sequels, so it should come as no surprise that Hellraiser Revelations isn’t any good. What is a surprise, though, is just how bad this movie actually is. Hellraiser Revelations isn’t the worst movie ever made, but it’s certainly the worst installment in a film series that went straight to video twelve years ago.

The best thing that can be said about Hellraiser Revelations is that it’s only 75 minutes long. Unfortunately, it seems a lot longer than that.

The plot goes a little something like this: our two young heroes, Nico, who is a 21 Jump Street-era Johnny Depp wanna-be, and Steven, his reluctant sidekick, decide to head to Mexico for a little fun and debauchery. The night starts off with way too much drinking, which leads to sex in a dirty bathroom with some Mexican »

Review: Penumbra

1 May 2012 8:43 AM, PDT | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

Penumbra is a paranoid thriller in the mode of Rosemary’s Baby and Repulsion, with a decidedly darkly comic streak that manages to unsettle and frustrate in equal measure. The film is an Argentinean film from the Bogliano brothers, recently released in a small number of theaters and now available on VOD.

Marga (Cristina Brondo) is a workaholic who has taken time from her increasingly busy job to show an apartment she owns in hopes of renting it. When the man she has agreed to show the apartment to offers her four times the worth of the place, she reluctantly agrees on the spot, with only one caveat: they must wait for this mysterious tenant to show up to look at it. After shuffling around an appointment to secure the rental, strange things begin to happen around her. Is it due to the impending eclipse she keeps hearing about? Who »
