Fate Of The Furious Faces A Forgettable Foursome -- The Weekend Warrior

19 April 2017 8:00 AM, PDT | LRMonline.com | See recent LRM Online news »

Welcome back to the Weekend Warrior, your weekly look at the new movies hitting theaters this weekend, as well as other cool events and things to check out.

Will This April Dump Weekend See Any New Movie Open Over $10 Million?

After the decent opening of last week’s The Fate of the Furious--though not quite as much as I predicted--it’s going to be hard for any new movie to make a mark against its second weekend even if it drops 55% or more this weekend, which is very likely.

Probably the best bet to make money this weekend is the thriller Unforgettable (Warner Bros.), which pits Kathryn Heigl against Rosario Dawson and is the directorial debut by producer Denise Di Novi (Crazy, Stupid, Love). It also stars Geoff Stults as the ex-husband of Heigl’s character Tessa, who becomes engaged to Dawson’s Julia, making her the stepmom to the former’s daughter, »

Secrets of Fatal Attraction! Crew Boiled a Real (Dead) Bunny in Shocking Kitchen Scene

29 March 2017 1:08 PM, PDT | PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news »

Animal lovers might want to sit this one out.

In a newly published excerpt in The Hollywood Reporter from an upcoming biography about film executive Sherry Lansing, new details have been revealed about the making of the smash 1987 film Fatal Attraction.

And while the book recalls the drama to get the film made and the fight to keep the original ending, perhaps the most shocking revelation came from “that” scene — better known as “the bunny” scene.

In it, Glenn Close‘s unhinged character boils a live bunny owned by the family of the man she has an affair with, played by Michael Douglas. »

30 Years Back: Celebrating the Cinematic Delights of 1987

29 March 2017 4:20 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Tom Jolliffe celebrates the cinematic delights of 1987…

The 80’s mark a special period in cinema for me. It’s predominantly an age thing. I grew up throughout the 80’s, soaking in some fantastic films. It was a rising golden age of blockbusters which took the foundations of what guys like Spielberg and Lucas launched in the late 70’s, as that stark, gritty and dramatically challenging output that delivered some of the best films of all time (The Godfather and more), gave way to more crowd pleasing, optimistic fare. The cinematic landscape went from the likes of The French Connection, The Conversation, and Chinatown to the more light-hearted Star Wars or Jaws.

As blockbusters swarmed the cinemas and multiplexes began spreading, audiences demanded entertainment. That trend has carried on and intensified and it’s truer than ever in these days of Marvel adaptations. The 80’s got me into cinema. That passion »

No bunnies were harmed in the making of this Fatal Attraction reunion.

Michael Douglas was on hand to support his former costar Glenn Close at a performance of her hit broadway musical Sunset Boulevard on Wednesday night. The two were all smiles as they posed together backstage at The Palace Theatre in New York City.

The duo famously starred in the iconic 1987 blockbuster Fatal Attraction together, where they played two lovers embroiled in a twisted affair.

And while the film premiered nearly three decades ago, Douglas and Close have remained pals over the years.

Melissa McCarthy Kisses Hubby Ben Falcone While Dressed as Sean Spicer Backstage at 'SNL'

Melissa McCarthy reprised her impression of White House press secretary Sean Spicer on Saturday Night Live over the weekend, and celebrated her return with a Pda-packed kiss with her husband, Ben Falcone, backstage, while fully decked out in her Spicer costume and make-up.

McCarthy took to Instagram to share a pic of the hilarious smooch, which she captioned, "That's a Spicey kiss!"

It was also a "Spicey" performance she delivered in the episode's cold open, bringing even more vengeful insanity to this week's White House press conference.

McCarthy's Spicer upped the ante when it came to how aggressively she answered the press corps' questions – including using a leaf blower to knock papers out of one reporter's hands – and made even better use of some props.

Fake feminism? Not our production of Apple Tree Yard | Amanda Coe

11 February 2017 4:05 PM, PST | The Guardian - TV News | See recent The Guardian - TV News news »

Emily Watson’s character bore no resemblance to Glenn Close’s in Fatal Attraction

So Rachel Cooke didn’t buy the dramatic premise of Apple Tree Yard – she found the sex scenes risible (Comment). Fair enough. She was also disturbed by the approval the programme found among those in the tabloid press, who saw it as a call to abandon political correctness concerning the price of women’s sexual freedom, a discomfort that I, as the screenwriter, share.

But let me be very clear: I am a feminist. Jessica Hobbs, the director of Apple Tree Yard, is a feminist. Louise Doughty, who wrote the bestselling book on which the BBC1 drama was based, is a feminist. I take exception to the belittling apostrophes around the f-word in the headline – “This ‘feminist’ drama’s message? Woe betide the woman who strays” [a headline not written by Cooke]. Call me a bad feminist, but please don’t call me a “feminist”.

There was always a chance for the best picture category at the 2017 Academy Awards to feature solid representation for female producers and, with the nominations official, the numbers are in. Turns out there are five of the nine films in this year’s top category with women behind it — but how does that stand up to the rest of Oscar history?

As mentioned above, there are five out of the total nine films in the best picture category this year that took some girl power to get made. There’s Hell or High Water (Carla Hacken and Julie Yorn), Hidden Figures (Donna Gigliotti and Jenno Topping), Lion (Angie Fielder), Manchester by the Sea (Kimberly Steward and Lauren Beck), and finally Moonlight (Adele Romanski and Dede Gardner). This leaves out Arrival, Fences, Hacksaw Ridge, and La La Land as »

The “Fatal Attraction” TV series is not going forward at Fox, TheWrap has learned. The adaptation of the 1987 Michael Douglas-Glenn Close movie was in the works way back in Summer 2015, but casting issues stalled it out. The cast-contingent project was passed on by Megan Fox, we’re told by an individual with knowledge of the proposed production. By the time Jenna Dewan hopped aboard, the show was pretty much a goner.
