The year is 1956. American philosophy student Michael is traveling en route to India when he decides to stop at Links of Burningbush in Scotland for one last round of golf before giving up the game for good.

When I first saw Dorf in his character role on the Carol Burnette Show I thought I'd practically die with laughter. I have to say the whole standing on the knees thing gets to be a bit little much. The VHS seems to be yet another attempt by Disney to rip-off their own classic icons with cheap ready-for-video knockoffs. As it is a widely known factoid that Eisner modeled Lumiere from BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (1991) from some of Conway's outrageous schemes and hairbrained routines. His wacky, insane skits of Dorf is an instant classic. In this video 'Dorf on Golf' Dorf shows us how to play golf. Oh, my! Really? Tahew! Tahew! Tahew! (thank you, Mr. Tuddbutt) He teaches us to drive, putt-putt and find the 19th hole? His assistant doesn't have a clue what he's doing either. It's a laugh a minute! Also for the fisherman there is a companion video, 'DORF GOES FISHING (1996)' Forget about that Pesci/Glover film, 'GONE FISHIN'. Go for this instead! A lot of Conway's natural comic genius can make any dull moment funny.- a viscerally hip portrait of anarchic youth culture which became both a controversial modern film classic and a defining pop icon. A lot of that was his later work with Don Knotts. Remember 'DER APPLE DUMPLING GUYS,' PRIVATE EYES' and PRIZE FIGHTER.' Dorf, however, has got to Conway's funniest character ever. All his Dorf videos on Golf, Fishing, Baseball, Auto Racing and the Professional Ice Skating are classics to treasure. The Neger/Jaeger-Gag is a cheap joke, but everyone who thinks he has a problem with those lighthearted jokes, must check, if he is not a better visitor for the next Visconti-Retrospective or a Danny-Kaye-Film-Festival. It's good, safe, clean comedy you will feel no shame in owning... I have been waiting patiently for it to be released on DVD.... only to discover that the release date is Feb 21, 2109... und Amazon.de has it listed as 'usually ships in 4-6 WEEKS?,' --a misprint, perchance?
