Millennium Entertainment has released a series of four character posters for Spanish writer-director Rodrigo Cortés' (Buried) upcoming psychological thriller, Red Lights. The movie stars Robert De Niro as Simon Silver, a legendary psychic who returns after a 30-year absence that followed the mysterious death of his biggest critic. His return prompts two paranormal fraud investigators (played by Cillian Murphy and Sigourney Weaver) to turn their debunking skills on Silver. However, they soon become obsessed with his seemingly inexplicable abilities. Elizabeth Olsen also stars and, based on the tagline on her poster, her character falls into the skeptic camp along with the characters played by Murphy and Weaver.
While some early reviews have complained that the movie plays a game of movie genre bait-and-switch, at least one reviewer compared Red Lights to classics like The Parallax View and Angel Heart, hailing it as a "unique cinema piece...with truly amazing performances. »

Colin Farrell, Total Recall trailer "If I'm not me, then who the hell am I?" That sounds like a line from Alan Parker's Angel Heart, in which Mickey Rourke plays a guy possessed by Robert De Niro. Or perhaps something out of Carl Reiner's All of Me, in which Steve Martin gets (sort of) possessed by Lily Tomlin. But no. Colin Farrell is the identity-challenged guy in this year's Total Recall remake, whose trailer (please scroll down) was released today. Are his memories his own or have they been implanted? If they're not his own, is he still himself or has he become someone else? Now, don't expect to much philosophical questioning in Len Wiseman's remake of Paul Verhoeven's classic-ish sci-fi/thriller. At least if the trailer is any indication of what the movie will be like: a big-screen videogame featuring big weapons, hot women, nonstop action, »

Mickey Rourke once tangled with the Devil in Angel Heart. This year, however, he’s getting the chance to be Satan in Roel Reine’s new Grindhouse flavoured action adventure Dead In Tombstone, which sees Rourke appearing alongside Danny Trejo and Anthony Michael Hall.Tombstone finds Trejo as Guerrero Hernandez, the leader of the fearsome Blackwater* gang of outlaws. He hatches a plan to break his half brother Red (Hall) out of the slammer and takes him along on a looting spree in the mining town of Edendale. Trouble is, Red double- crosses him and Guerrero ends up dead. But a little thing like mortality rarely stops a Danny Trejo character and, after doing a deal with the devil (Rourke), he rises from the dead a year later and unleashes bloody revenge across the town of Tombstone. Thank goodness he picked that place and not Rainbowville or Happy Town…Reine, »

Marking yet another interesting entry in the career of Cillian Murphy, an ambitious performer always tackling new genres and new characters, is Red Lights from director Rodrigo Cortes (Buried).
This time around, it’s a thriller and the subject is the paranormal. Dr. Margaret Matheson (Sigourney Weaver) and Dr. Thomas Buckley (Cillian Murphy) travel the country, investigating reported sights of the supernatural, disproving each and every one with relative ease.
Amidst their cynicism, world-renowned psychic Simon Silver (Robert de Niro) returns from a long controversial absence, making believers out of any and all who witness his abilities. So begins Tom’s slow descent into madness, determined to prove Silver is a fraud. But, can it be that Simon Silver is not a fraud?
Cortes proved a talented filmmaker in tight spaces with Buried, and here he’s eager to expand in every way. There are more than a couple of suspenseful sequences in beautifully-realized spaces, »
