Marshall Herskovitz will receive the 2006 Franklin J. Schaffner Alumni Medal as part of the AFI Life Achievement Award Tribute to Sean Connery on Thursday at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland. Herskovitz, who graduated in 1975 from the AFI Conservatory, where he met his longtime professional partner Edward Zwick, with whom he founded The Bedford Falls Co. Together, they created such TV series as Thirtysomething and My So-Called Life. They have produced such films as Legends of the Fall and The Last Samurai, and Herskovitz has directed the features Jack the Bear and Dangerous Beauty. He also serves as an AFI trustee and president of the Producers Guild of America. »
