Stylish Film Noir Series - That Failed
spiritof678 September 2017
There haven't been many attempts at making a film noir TV show in recent history, and I mean in the last 30 years. The Mike Hammer series with Stacy Keach was an attempt but went thin on the noir aspects. This series didn't. Moody, jazz-themed with the right style and tempo, it was a genuine shot at TV noir...which obviously wasn't what the network was willing to sell, and they didn't.

If you can find a way, see it. There will likely as not never be another one like it, since no one under 50 will be willing to say they have seen a film noir, much less one on TV.

Pilot moves like a glacier. Lead actor is a stiff, but...

Supporting cast and production values wre very strong. Josh Brolin is stong in good character part. Locations, costume, hair are all well integrated. Hard to get past the stiff in the middle.

TV's Film Noir at its BEST!
mwoods31 June 2020
Awesome 50's film not TV show....nothing like it since! Michael Woods , Josh Brolin, Lisa Jane Persky and Bill Sadler were terrific. Original Music by Chris Issac and Joe Jakson and great guest stars like Benicio Del Toro. Peter Gallagher and more. Got to share the love of Private Eye...Created by Anthony Yerkovich who also created Miami Vice...both classic TV so a MUST CHECK OUT!! Enjoy the ride...its a Blast!
