Why Christina Applegate Passed On Legally Blonde

3 hours ago | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

It's hard to imagine anyone playing Elle Woods other than Reese Witherspoon. The Legally Blonde role is one of the performances that put the eventual Oscar winner on the map, after all. Apparently, Christina Applegate shied away from the opportunity to play the role, and though it sounds like she has mixed feelings about passing on the part, she also had a specific reason. If you're familiar with her Married... With Children character, you may be able to guess why...  Christina Applegate spoke on the subject with ETOnline, and from what the Vacation star says, she was afraid of repeating herself after Married... With Children. The script came along my way and it was right after I had just finished, Married [With Children], and it was a blonde who in that first script is dimwitted but ends up going to Yale, or Harvard, I don.t remember. But I was »

'Married with Children' Spinoff Will Bring Back All the Bundys

6 hours ago | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Back in September, we reported that Sony Pictures Television is developing a spinoff of the beloved 1990s sitcom Married with Children, which would star David Faustino as Bud Bundy, who is grown up with a family of his own. We haven't heard anything regarding the spinoff since then, but, E! Online caught up with original Married With Children stars David Faustino and Christina Applegate, who confirmed that the Married...With Children Spinoff is in the works. Here's what David Faustino had to say.

"Sony has it. They're excited about it. They're working out some legal issues that we hope they work out. The whole cast, including Christina, is down to do little bits in it. The idea would be a pilot for a spinoff. That's all I can say right now. It involves me and few other people."

Ironically, the news was broke during the red carpet premiere of Christina Applegate's Vacation, »

Christina Applegate came very close to playing one famous Gemini vegetarian. The Vacation star, 43, revealed in a new interview with Entertainment Tonight that she had the chance to play Elle Woods in Legally Blonde but turned the role down. The opportunity came along soon after Applegate had wrapped her turn on Married... With Children in the late '90s. The Mars Attacks! actress famously played Kelly on the sitcom, the ditzy daughter of the Bundy family, and was carefully plotting her next move.  "The script came along my [...] »

The Bundys are baaack! I can exclusively reveal that a Married With Children reunion is in the works. David Faustino, who played Bud on the sitcom, says he's developing a "spin-off" of the series. "They're working out some legal issues that we hope they work out." The best part? TV Land Thinks ‘Younger,’ Shifts Focus From Baby Boomers to Gen X

15 July 2015 1:18 PM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

TV Land executives set out more than a year ago to undertake a major makeover of the cabler’s original comedy series lineup. As they dug into it, they realized that the mandate had to be much bigger than changing the tone and format of new shows.

The mission became shifting the channel’s focus from appealing to baby boomers to understanding how the Generation X demo has changed during the past decade. The first fruits of that effort have rolled out this year with the launch of single-camera comedy “Younger,” from producer Darren Star, and two shows that premiere tonight: “The Jim Gaffigan Show” and “Impastor.”

“Generation X is now at the phase of life where they have matured, they are responsible parents, but inside they still feel like rebellious teenagers,” said Kim Rosenblum, TV Land’s exec VP of marketing and creative. “That represents a huge opportunity for »

25 Years In La Part 1: Gene Hackman, Eazy-e, and Albert Brooks defending a film

When I left Tampa, it was the crack of dawn. I was in the passenger's seat of the Chevette that Scott Swan owned, and we were on our way to California to be rich and famous. I was 20 years old. I thought I had all the answers. I had a screenplay called "The President Must Die!" with me that I was sure was going to be produced by the following summer with an all-star cast. We had all of them picked. Harrison Ford, Robert DeNiro, Robin Williams. Scott and I had spent the entire spring writing it, and we were done. Absolutely, completely, positively done. It was perfect. It was going to be a huge hit. This was the logical next step. This wasn't our first script, either. We had written a script together called "Moondance" during my first year of college, and a script called "A Weekend Away" during my second year of college. »

HitFix Daily Snap: The irreplaceable thing about 'American Idol'

11 May 2015 12:11 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Is anyone else shocked and sort of impressed that "American Idol" is being canceled? It's a waning (waned?) juggernaut, but Fox could've easily kept it on another five years. Yes, it only produced a handful of big stars, but that's just a byproduct of the show's true gift: a platform that made real talents be both productive and vulnerable. When before "American Idol" did we see budding artists try hard in front of us? Every week was an audition, and not every audition was successful. Now that shows like "The Voice" and "Project Runway" have attempted to dramatize the hell out of every contestant story, it feels like the emotional side of reality competitions is reduced to cliche -- but we can't forget that "Idol" gave it to us first and best. Here's what else is up at HitFix today. Edgar Wright interviewed "Ex Machina" director Alex Garland. This movie is damn good. »

10 Sitcom Pilots Inspired by Real People: Which Will You Watch?

17 April 2015 5:30 AM, PDT | Moviefone | See recent Moviefone news »

Last week, in the wake of Eddie Huang's complaints that he felt ABC's "Fresh Off the Boat" was distorting and softening his childhood experiences, this column examined how hard it is for any biographical or autobiographical sitcom to be true to the life of its source and still be a crowd-pleasing primetime network entertainment. You'd think, after decades of trying, TV writers and network programming executives would be aware of this.

Nonetheless, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the networks have no fewer than ten such sitcom pilots in production, as the first episodes of potential 2015-16 primetime series. Some are based on the lives of already famous entertainers, some on the self-referential stand-up comedy routines of not-quite-famous comics, and some on memoirsts who've lived interesting lives.

Here's a rundown of these pilots, with a look at who these shows are about, who's starring in them, what the series might be like, »
