  • J.J. Starbuck is a Texas billionaire, whose preoccupation with building his empire ignored his wife and son. Only when they died he realized his mistake. That's when he decided to put people ahead of business. Now he has an uncanny ability to sense when someone is lying and these persons commit a crime usually a murder and have covered their tracks, and the victims are someone who made a profound effect on J.J.'s life or he feels that they didn't deserve to die. So J.J. does what he can to nail them. He also has the uncanny luck of crossing paths with people who need help and he does what he can to help them. He is aided by his business manager, Charlie, and his niece, Jill. At mid-season, the death of a friend brought him in contact with E.L. "Tenspeed" Turner, a conman, who somehow ended up working with him.
