24 August 2016 4:44 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Their rebranding has also included the Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig thriller A Deadly Adoption and the cult-classic remake of Mother, May I Sleep With Danger? from James Franco. Today we have word that the network has ordered a biopic centering on pop icon Britney Spears, simply entitled Britney.

TV Line reports that the network has cast Natasha Bassett as the Princess of Pop, although no other cast members have come aboard quite yet. The biopic will be produced by Asylum Entertainment for Lifetime, with production scheduled to begin in Vancouver on September 19, with Lifetime eyeing a 2017 debut. Fuller House is welcoming a few familiar faces back into the fold for season two—but they're going to look very different from the last time you saw them. E! News has learned that the show is recasting two characters from DJ's past who will resurface in the second season finale of the Netflix revival. We'll meet the present-day versions of Full House's Nelson Burkhard, a.k.a. one of DJ's high school boyfriends (it's hard to remember those dark days, but she dated plenty of people who weren't as perfect as Steve), and Kathy Santoni, a.k.a. the mean girl in DJ and Kimmy's class, at their high school reunion. Nelson, who was originally played by Jason Marsden, is very »

'Mr. Robot' creator explains why season 2 is like 'Empire Strikes Back'

17 August 2016 8:10 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

We're into the second half of Mr. Robot season 2 (USA ordered a third season yesterday), and I've been covering the highs (dazzling visuals, excellent performances), lows (super-sized episodes that sometimes drag), and mysteries (what exactly is up with Elliot's new regimen?) in my weekly episodic reviews. Tonight's episode, "Handshake," included several major developments, and I was fortunately able to get a few minutes on the phone today to discuss them and other aspects of season 2 with the show's creator, showrunner, and, for season 2, sole director, Sam Esmail. A few of my own thoughts on "Handshake" — with full spoilers — followed by my conversation with Esmail (which covered a lot but still didn't have time to get into last week's Full House homage) coming up just as soon as I enjoy the shrimp cocktail... So, as Redditors and other fans have been theorizing since the season 2 premiere, Elliot wasn't staying with his mother in Jersey, »

The '90s It Girls You Wanted (and Still Kind of Want) to Be

12 August 2016 1:55 PM, PDT | Popsugar.com | See recent Popsugar news »

Ahh, the '90s. A time of Sassy and Jane magazines, MTV playing actual music videos, and devastatingly overtweezed eyebrows. We've brought back many of the decade's biggest trends, from Doc Martens and babydoll dresses to chokers and Lisa Frank - we've even rebooted some of the classic shows, like Boy Meets World, Full House, and The X-Files. In addition to the fashion, beauty, and entertainment highlights that have made their way back, there are lots of celebrities who had a huge '90s heyday and are still serving serious style now. Stars like Liv Tyler, Halle Berry, Drew Barrymore, and Winona Ryder have continued to inspire us, just like they did when we idolized them as teenagers. Yes, we can sing the praises of Beyoncé, Jennifer Lawrence, Gigi Hadid, and Emma Watson all day, but before them came a crop of impossibly cool women who paved the way and »

‘Mr. Robot’ Episode Goes ’90s: Watch The Amazing Fake & Real Vintage Ads (That Only Aired Once)

[Editor’s Note: Spoilers follow for “Mr. Robot” Season 2, Episode 6, “eps2.4_m4ster-s1ave.aes.” (Full review here.)]

TV keeps making ostentatious plays for regaining live viewership (and, as a result, getting live eyeballs on ads). We’re never seen anything like this week, though, when USA’s “Mr. Robot” exploded the idea of what you can do with in-show advertising, and truly rewarded those who tuned in live.

Earlier in the day, creator Sam Esmail had tweeted out a warning that of all the episodes of “Mr. Robot” that have aired recently:

To our streaming viewers, you should watch tonight’s episode of #MrRobot live with the commercials. Trust me on this.

Sam Esmail (@samesmail) August 10, 2016

In this age of DVRing, it was a pretty big request (especially when you consider that “Mr. Robot” starts at 10pm and episodes often run over an hour). But once the episode began, Esmail’s reasons were clear.

Last week’s episode ended with Elliot (Rami Malek) experiencing a brutal beating »

Last Week’S Review: ‘Mr. Robot’ Dances With Boundaries and Bullets

In Elliot’s Head, Two’s A Crowd

One of the great things about Mr. Robot is that each week, it might be a completely different show. It’s never been afraid to mix genres, styles and tones in its depiction of Elliot’s fractured mindset, but the audacious opening twenty minutes of this week’s installment sets a new level of craziness, as Elliot finds himself in an late-eighties/early-nineties sitcom — complete with theme music, laugh track and even a special appearance by a legendary Alien Life Form.

As much fun as it was to see Wellick bound and gagged in the trunk, or Gideon-as-cop get run down by Alf, or Darlene get repeatedly socked in the jaw by her mother, the thing that stood out in this sequence was the way Elliot’s genuine terror and bafflement »
