Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series Susan Flannery (CBS). When the presenters announced Susan Flannery's name the "Flannery" part was unintelligible to those in the control booth, who started to play the "All My Children" (1970) theme music and cut to a shot of actress Susan Lucci having a conversation backstage. The camera stayed on the shocked Lucci as Rosie O'Donnell, hearing the music, told her to go on stage. The camera then cut as Susan Flannery made it up the stairs to accept the award and Lucci returned backstage. Producer 'Dick Clark' apologized for the mistake the following day. |
