A brave project by Pilar Miró.
14 September 2015 | by (Spain) – See all my reviews

In a coastal city in northern Spain (Santander), "Werther" is a young teacher (Eusebio Poncela) who teaches Greek at an elite school. It is a romantic and melancholic man living alone in the old home of their ancestors. Agrees to tutor the son of a wealthy shipowner classes, an introvert and difficult child who lives locked up in itself. Werther feels so attracted by the boy's mother (Mercedes Sampietro), a strong, independent woman who can no longer live without it. Modernized adaptation of the classic Goethe made for television.

Striven attempt to adapt the literary classic of Romanticism. Filmed on location in northern Spain is the love story that develops between a melancholy professor of Greek and the mother of a student. Despite the good work of the director, the script is unobtrusive, throwing in missing scenes that would best complete the story circle. The film is cold and academic sometimes successful in others, highlighting the role of protagonist in an interesting performance always a good actor Eusebio Poncela.

Beautiful soundtrack and courageous project Pilar Miró that traced its way upstream film of its time.
