Storyline

Two doctors, a father and son, conceal their alcohol and drug problems in this potent look at the abuse of those substances that exist in the medical profession. Asner portrays a well-thought of surgeon who over-indulges in alcohol. His son, who follows in his father's footsteps, has become addicted to morphine and amphetamines. Unlike his father, he completely hides his usage, even from his own wife. When his father's over-indulgence becomes apparent, the son moves back home to help his father's practice. After the father almost kills a bicyclist in a drunken driving incident, the son confronts the father. But the father has also learned of the son's addiction. Neither will admit their need for help and ultimately leads to tragic consequences. Written by John Sacksteder <jsackste@bellsouth.net>

A very good family drama

The summary above speaks for itself. Yes, it is another tale of alcoholism. The problem is that his own son - himself also a surgeon - is a drug addict too. So, father and son are both deep in sh...You have here powerful, dramatic scenes, when you watch the slow destruction process of the entire family. The perfect topic for a TV movie destined to home audiences craving for realistic stuff, miles away from the ones you have in theatres, with super heroes and special, digital effects. It is twenty nine years old, but it remains very modern, as far as this problem - alcohol - will always be a real calamity for people. Strong performances here.
