Last week, I bought a 2-disc, 8-pack 80's comedy movie collection at Wal-Mart. The only reason I got it was for a very specific movie called Touch and Go. It has never been released on DVD and the only opportunity that I had to get it was with a collection of other movies that are of varying quality. Michael Keaton plays Bobby Barbato, a hockey player who does all he can to get his team to the top. He's a determined player who works hard. One night after a game, he is approached by a young boy who sets him up to get mugged. The young boy named Louis in this movie is played by Ajay Naidu (aka Samir, the Indian guy from Office Space) and he's a pretty good kid actor. What I liked was that he wasn't the typical adorable type of kid, he was more of the street smart type. After the incident, Bobby takes Louis home and meets his mother (Maria Conchita Alonso), who he later befriends. As time goes on, he falls in love with Denise and tolerates Louis. A subplot is included that involves the muggers terrorizing Denise and Louis which I thought worked pretty well. The fact that Touch and Go isn't available on a separate DVD is a shame. It's a sweet story and the movie knows how to use its comedic, romantic, and dramatic elements well.
