Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that, instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, you use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

Maverick and his girlfriend have sex in a scene, they are shown kissing and then later they are in the apartment kissing very sensually and Maverick is unbuttoning her shirt. They lay down on the bed kissing sexually, no actual sex is shown.

Men joke about Maverick and his girlfriend going into the bathroom and doing it on a towel on the counter.

Maverick says the enemy makes him want to get a hard on.

Lots of war violence with fighter jets:

Throughout the movie there is dog fighting with intense violence, Maverick and Goose fight a bandit who nearly shoots them down.

Cougar and Marlin get hit by a machine gun from another airplane.

Maverick and Goose at one point do get shot down and Goose dies when hitting his head against the cockpit glass when ejecting.

Lots of other war fighting that is intense.

30+ shits are used

D*ck is used twice

Many goddammits

2 uses of asshole

Lots of men are shown drinking in one scene.

Suggested MPAA rating: PG-13 for intense war violence, a scene of sensuality, language throughout and drinking.

This movie was PG when it came out because PG-13 didn't exist but if it came out now it would definitely be PG-13.

Appropriate for 14 and up.
