Victor Crowley Explodes onto New Hatchet III One-Sheet

10 hours ago | Horror Asylum | See recent Horror Asylum news »

A new 'Hatchet III' one-sheet full of fear, fire and Crowley has come to light courtesy of Dark Sky Films. It's the official theatrical poster and it generally pisses over past 'Hatchet' related poster offerings. Danielle Harris ('The Ghost of Goodnight Lane') and Kane Hodder ('Jason X') face off once more as Marybeth and Victor respectively. They're both tough cookies for various reasons so let's see who'll come unstuck first. Caroline Williams ('The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2'), Sean Whalen ('Lost', 'Idle Hands'), Diane Goldner, Jason Trost, Derek Mears ('Friday the 13th') and Zach Galligan ('Gremlins') all co-star along with Harris and Hodder. Bj McDonnell takes over from Green this time around for directorial duties with Green providing the script. Check out the new poster below. »

DVD Review: Texas Chainsaw

14 May 2013 9:30 PM, PDT | Cinelinx | See recent Cinelinx news »

Imagine, if you will, a world where The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III, and Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation never happened. We won't even mention the remake and its sequel since they're not part of the original canon. The slate of what many consider inadequate follow-ups to the original is wiped completely clean. This scenario is exactly what Texas Chainsaw asks of its audience.

Picking up immediately after the original 1974 film ended, Texas Chainsaw takes audiences back to the Sawyer homestead. Shortly after the police show up to arrest Leatherface (Dan Yeager), an unruly mob decides to take the law into their own hands. They burn down and kill all the family holed up in the house, with the exception of Leatherface and a woman protecting a baby. One of the townspeople kills the woman and takes the baby to raise on their own. »

Godfather of Gore, Herschell Gordon Lewis Returns With Zombificador!!

6 May 2013 6:50 AM, PDT | iconsoffright.com | See recent Icons of Fright news »

*Update* – There’s a Brand New video featuring the Godfather of Gore himself, Herschell Gordon Lewis explaining the campaign! Check it out and the bottom!!

Herschell Gordon Lewis, the man responsible for the term “gore”, along with such horror classics as Blood Feast, Two Thousand Maniacs!, and an odd favorite of mine, She-devils On Wheels, has enlisted the help of today’s crowd-funding craze to help his latest opus, Zombificador get made and on its way. An anthology that promises to be Lewis’ “goriest film yet”, the film will star genre favorites Bill Moseley (The Devil’S Rejects, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2), Michael Berryman (The Hills Have Eyes, One Flew Over The Cuckoo’S Nest), among other soon to be announced genre greats.

While I’m not the biggest fan of crowd-funding when it comes to big studio-ish films (here’s looking at your Braff), people like Herschell are »

Nsfw: Watch The Hatchet III Red Band Trailer

24 April 2013 1:12 PM, PDT | WeAreMovieGeeks.com | See recent WeAreMovieGeeks.com news »

Hope you’re finished with lunch, because the new red band trailer for Hatchet III is filled with some gory, gruesome scenes. Enjoy.

Victor Crowley lives! Just a few short weeks after Hatchet II hit home video and literally sold off the shelves faster than the major retailers could stock it, a third installment was green-lit by Dark Sky Films and ArieScope Pictures.

Danielle Harris and Kane Hodder return for the next film in the now bona fide worldwide Hatchet franchise which finds a search and recovery team heading into the haunted Louisiana swamp to pick up the pieces of the first two films and “Marybeth” (Harris) seeking out the secret to ending the voodoo curse that has kept the paranormal entity of “Victor Crowley” (Hodder) haunting and terrorizing Honey Island Swamp for decades.

Also starring Zach Galligan (Gremlins, Waxwork), Derek Mears (Friday The 13th, Predators), Caroline Williams (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2 »

Rob Zombie love, and The Lords Of Salem

Feature Matt Edwards 25 Apr 2013 - 06:57

With his latest film out now, Matt looks back at Rob Zombie's directing career to date, leading up to the nightmarish Lords Of Salem...

I love Rob Zombie. Here at Den Of Geek, we prefer to match the film to the writer most likely to enjoy it. You know, we actually like enjoying films. I’m Den Of Geek’s go to guy for all things Rob Zombie, and not just because I look weird and have a cool beard. What I’m getting at here is that if you’re looking to have a moan about the divisive director, this isn’t the article you’re after. Try Google, you’ll definitely find it. But we’re celebrating Rob Zombie over here, and we’re simply having too much fun to have time for anyone trying to bring us down.

Tracing Rob Zombie's Decade Spent Doing the Devil's Work: 'The Devil's Rejects'

16 April 2013 9:00 AM, PDT | Rope of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news »

This is a continuation of my series on Rob Zombie's feature films as a director leading up to the Friday release of his latest effort, The Lords of Salem (Read the first entry Here). I had the opportunity to speak with him at length about all five of his films and am exploring them in chronological order with snippets of my interview interspersed throughout. Today, we move on to his sophomore effort, The Devil's Rejects. The Devil's Rejects Zombie followed up House of 1000 Corpses with The Devil's Rejects, a stylistic departure from its predecessor in every conceivable way. Shifting away from the cool blues and psychedelic super-8 motif of House of 1000 Corpses, The Devil's Rejects is a sun burnt road film straight out of the '70s. A drive-in exploitation picture released in the politically volatile summer of 2005, The Devil's Rejects found the Firefly clan on the »

Just look around your kitchen and you'll see plenty of things that can separate a man from his breath in a big hurry. Read on for our Top Five Heinous Household Horrors!

Microwave Oven-Gremlins

Joe Dante's holiday-themed romp was memorable for so many reasons: the cute and cuddly Mogwai, Gizmo; the sinister and scaly Stripe, who was as devious as he was ugly; and the humor and F/X that are laced throughout this horror-comedy film. »

Millennium is Gearing up for ‘Texas Chainsaw 4′

9 January 2013 7:20 AM, PST | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

Texas Chainsaw 3D was number one at the box office this past weekend with $21.7 million, so it should come as no surprise that Millennium Films is moving forward with Texas Chainsaw 4.

The new Texas Chainsaw flicks are supposed to function as sequels to Tobe Hooper’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2.

Millennium Films Chairman Avi Lerner:

“Lati [Grobman] and Christa [Campbell] brought the idea of this franchise to us. They were certain of the audience appeal, so we signed on, and it turns out they were right. It was a bloody good decision. Lionsgate agreed to distribute the film in the Us, and did a fantastic job. We very much hope to partner with them for the next chapter.”

Icons of Fright interview with Bill Moseley!!!

7 January 2013 7:26 PM, PST | iconsoffright.com | See recent Icons of Fright news »

Anyone who is into horror films knows who Bill Moseley is, that’s just a fact. He’s played some pretty iconic villains, such as Chop-Top in Tobe Hooper’s 1986 classic, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, as well as fan favorite Otis B. Driftwood in Rob Zombie’s House Of 1000 Corpses and The Devil’S Rejects. He’s also an accomplished musician, fronting Spider Mountain and Cornbugs (a band that showcases Bill in his Chop-Top persona on vocals and guitarist Buckethead supplying some creepy yet fun music). Bill’s made a name for himself in the horror genre as being an intense, sometimes off the wall character actor, and personally, I’ve been a Massive fan of his dating back to seeing TCM 2 for the first time, as a kid. So, you could say I was pretty stoked to be able to call Bill up for an interview and »

Texas Chainsaw 3D Review

Director: John Luessenhopp

Starring: Alexandra DaddarioDan Yeager, Paul Rae, Thom Barry, Tania Raymonde, Trey Songz, Scott EastwoodShaun Sipos, Gunnar Hansen, Tobe Hooper, John Dugan, Marilyn Burns, Bill MoseleyRichard Riehle.

Certificate: 18

Running Time: 92 minutes

Synopsis: A young woman travels to Texas to collect an inheritance; little does she know that an encounter the infamous chainsaw-wielding killer is part of the reward.

Tobe Hooper unleashed his horrifically raw masterpiece The Texas Chainsaw Massacre on the world in 1974. It was very loosely based on the real-life crimes of Wisconsin native nutter Ed Gein, who was the inspiration for the limb-lopping loon: Leatherface. Unfairly thrown in amongst the ‘video nasty’ rag-tag bunch here in the UK, Hooper’s infamous low-budget effort was unavailable until 1998 (although in my youth it was known to cross hands in the schoolyard in bootleg video form).

While his original groundbreaking horror lingers in the memory, Hooper »

FEARnet Move Review: 'Texas Chainsaw 3D'

4 January 2013 9:00 AM, PST | FEARnet | See recent FEARnet news »

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre has a cinematic legacy that is long, colorful, and pretty darn terrible.

Oh, sure. The original 1974 film still remains an unimpeachable classic of shocking violence and psychotic madness, but The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986) and Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3 (1990) are little more than garish geek shows full of stupid splatter for splatter's sake. Fun enough in small doses, but hardly worthy sequels to such a great horror film. Then came 1994's The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation, which is so outrageously amateurish you won't believe it's considered a finished film. Then we got the slick-but-decent remake in 2003 and a pointless prequel to that remake in 2006. All up to speed now?

Good, because the producers of the brand-new Texas Chainsaw 3D want you to watch their film as if it's the first Texas Chainsaw Massacre sequel ever made. That allows us to dispose of at least three pretty terrible sequels, »

Revisiting Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning

3 January 2013 2:00 PM, PST | FEARnet | See recent FEARnet news »

As I mentioned in yesterday’s wrap-up of Platinum Dunes’ remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, it didn’t seem like the team behind that film were thinking in terms of “franchise” when they set about to re-introduce Leatherface to a brand new audience. If they had, then I doubt the ending of that movie would’ve had as many finalities with their core group as it had; something that earns that particular remake bonus points. So, after winning over the skeptical fans and in lieu of a slew of similar post-Chainsaw horror movies that followed like Saw and Hostel (which Chainsaw producer Mike Fleiss also was involved with), the Pd gang started seriously contemplating an appropriate follow-up. And for them, the only story that made sense to tell was the one that came before the remake.

Granted, considering this version of the family was completely different from previous incarnations, »
