Sex & Nudity

  • Extremely brief non-graphic reference to masturbation. Most kids will not get it, and it is not an obviously crude reference.
  • Infrequent mild sexual references are made, mostly in a joking or humorous manner. No actual sex or nudity whatsoever in this film.
  • Four twelve-year-old boys are seen are in their underwear taking out leeches from there skin ( this is in a rude manner)
  • Some very brief rude dialogue, but on the most part it is innocent
  • Nothing really to worry about for kids 12+
  • As most of the mild sexual dialogue is used by kids and teens, it is not harmful and a lot less extreme than movies like The Shawshank Redemption
  • Four boys come out of a pond with leeches all over them. It is implied that one of the boys' has a leech stuck on his penis. He reaches into his underwear and faints briefly after that.

Violence & Gore

  • Kids are put in dangerous situations but the film isn't violent.
  • A dead body is seen. His eyes are open and he has some blood on his face.( this s probably the reason why this movie is rated r)
  • A young man has a word carved into his skin with a razor-blade, with blood seen. This is voluntary however, so there is no violence during the scene.
  • An older boy bullies a younger boy by pushing him to the ground, getting on top of him, and putting a lit cigarette close to the his face. It then stops before anything happens.
  • Teddy continuously punches Vern in the shoulder. Vern finally gets fed up and jumps on top of Teddy, pummeling him.
  • The villain threatens several young boys with a knife but is stopped before anything can occur.
  • Chris unexpectedly blows a hole in a trash can.
  • The antagonist is threatened with a gun.
  • We hear someone was killed with a stab to the throat.
  • There's a drag race and one even drives into the path of an oncoming truck. A truck swerves to avoid running someone over.
  • A boy dies in a car crash. We just hear about it

  • 11 f-words.
  • 33 shits.
  • 4 goddamns.
  • 9 uses of pussy.
  • There is some swearing, probably the only reason it is rated R, but nothing too bad
  • Other strong language, such as shit, fuck, a--hole, etc.
  • The kids use some minor language as insults, but it is in a joking manner
  • Most language is used as insults But too any bad words they use and one used of piss.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Young boys are seen smoking cigarettes.
  • Older teens drink and drive (as well as smoke) in several scenes.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • There are several threatening scenes between the boys and an older gang.
  • A group of pre-teen boys stay in the woods one night and they all take turns of keeping watch with a gun.
  • An intense stand-off scene with characters threatening each other with a knife and gun.
  • A scene in which a young boy is spying on two older boys may be intense as there is a risk that he might be seen.
  • We see a funeral recession for a teen boy where the father blames his other son (this is all a dream).
  • A man mocks a boy's mentally ill father and the boy tries to scale a fence to kill a man.
  • MPAA/USA - Rated R for adult situations, language and violence.
  • BBFC/UK - Rated 13 (no reason provided).
