What a good pal! Kellan Lutz treks from La to Miami to support his Gossip Girl

You read it here at HollywoodLife.com first, Upper East Siders. There’s a new power pal couple taking over Hollywood: Emmett Cullen is besties with Blair Waldorf!

Twilight Saga: New Moon star Kellan Lutz, 24, was on hand to cheer on Gossip Girl starlet Leighton Meester, 23, when she performed at the opening of new nightclub Klutch in Miami on Dec. 29.

“Kellan was completely supportive of Leighton,” an eyewitness tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively. “He was standing right by the stage, dancing and cheering her on during her performance. She returned the favor by singing directly to him [as well as fellow friends] Christian Siriano, 24, and Colin Egglesfield, 36.”

Adds the insider, “After she was done singing, he jumped over the DJ booth to congratulate her and they embraced. They danced a little and hung out with her band before he left her to relax. »

Have you ever double or triple-dated with Your co-workers? The Gossip Girl kids do!

Sometimes after a hard day’s work you need to chill out by yourself, or with a different set of people. Not so for the Gossip Girl cast – who enjoy one another’s company so much that, not only do they hang out on their days off, they even double date.

“Sometimes [boyfriend Ed Westwick and I] double-date with Penn [Badgley], 23, and Blake [Lively], 22, or Leighton [Meester], 23, and Sebastian [Stan] 26,” confides Jessica Szohr, 24, in the January issue of Teen Vogue. “We all hang out.” In fact, Jessica takes hanging out to a whole ‘nother level with her co-workers: she and Ed even spent Valentine’s Day with Leighton and Stan in Jamaica this year!

“I’ve read horror stories from other actors about egos, people who don’t get along, but we’re all friends,” Jess continues. There are people from this job who will »

Andrew McCarthy, the star of some of the most iconic teen movies of the 1980s ("Pretty in Pink," "Less Than Zero"), is getting back to his roots by taking on The CW’s sexy drama "Gossip Girl."

McCarthy, who will direct an episode set to air in the spring, says the show’s young stars are different from the ones who came to be known as the Brat Pack. “They are much more savvy than we were,” McCarthy said. “We were just a bunch of dumb kids running around.”

Blu-Ray Review: Remarkable 20th Anniversary Edition of ‘Say Anything...’

29 November 2009 2:04 PM, PST | HollywoodChicago.com | See recent HollywoodChicago.com news »

Chicago – Sometimes fans have the choice between holding on to the standard DVD version of their favorite films or upgrading to the latest format, anniversary, or ultimate collector’s unrated fantastic edition. With many Blu-Ray releases merely improving the technical specs but often leaving the special features alone, it can be a tough call. Such is not the case with the 20th anniversary edition of the great “Say Anything…,” a release packed with excellent bonus material that make it a must-own for fans of Cameron Crowe’s directorial debut.

Blu-Ray Rating: 5.0/5.0

After breaking through with his script for “Fast Times at Ridgemont High,” Cameron Crowe fell into the worst project of his career, a lackluster ’80s teen movie called “The Wild Life”. After that experience, Crowe told himself that he wanted to write something personal and real; a film that took the lives of young people seriously and not merely »

Recreating "New Moon": What I Watched Instead

24 November 2009 11:38 AM, PST | JustPressPlay.net | See recent JustPressPlay news »

So New Moon made over $140 million this past weekend. I wish I can say that I'm surprised, but really, who would be? It's Twilight. Everybody should've expected it to do gangbusters.

You might have noticed that we don't have a review for it... yet. There's a reason for that. I went to a screening of it last Wednesday, but never made it into the theater, after my stubborn self encountered a problem passing the security check. Nothing too scandalous, I didn't bite anybody—that night, anyway—but I scuttled on home skipping out on my date with the hot new reel on the block. So what did I do instead?

I could have seen the movie during the weekend, of course. But hey, it was busy breaking three different box office records: opening day (beating The Dark Knight), midnight showing (beating Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince) and November opening »

Listen, Don't Watch: 10 Soundtracks Better Than Their Movies

12 November 2009 4:31 AM, PST | Reelzchannel.com | See recent ReelzChannel news »

Seven months ago, the movie formerly known as The Boat That Rocked had its UK theatrical release, followed up two months later with the DVD. Reviews at the time were so-so. Now the pic gets shipped state-side, renamed Pirate Radio and apparently with all the good parts taken out.

That said, the soundtrack contains 32 '60s classics from The Kinks to The Who to David Bowie — sending it straight to the "Listen, Don't Watch" category, and leaving us wondering if it belongs on our list of 10 Soundtracks Better Than Their Movies.

Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever (Film Review)

3 November 2009 3:27 PM, PST | Fangoria | See recent Fangoria news »

Note: This review does contain minor Spoilers

Cheerfully gory and revolting, Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever is the fun sequel to Eli Roth's cult classic that recently made it's debut on the last night of Screamfest L.A.

Starting immediately after the events of the first film, Paul (top-billed Rider Strong in a two-minute cameo) climbs out of the creek with the virus eating away at him, and he's promptly mowed down by a schoolbus (hardly a 'spoiler', having been revealed in the film's marketing materials).

The bottled water company from the first film delivers drinks contaminated with the flesh-eating virus to a local high school, where likable John (Noah Segan) and his nerdy friend Alex (Rusty Kelley) attend class. John has an unrequited crush on Cassie (Alexi Wasser), but is afraid of her angry kickboxer boyfriend.

By the plot, you can see the sequel is a classic John Hughes movie set-up, »

Entertainment Weekly Lists the 25 Best Soundtracks from the Past 25 Years

3 November 2009 2:34 PM, PST | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

I’m no music expert what with their fancy degrees and ability to appreciate music beyond “This sounds good.”  But I do know lists and lists generate controversy and controversy equals traffic!  And with their patented “slideshow” format which creates more hits based on an itemized story, EW.com has a real racket going!

Well, we just listed it like normal people after the jump.  Take a look, see if you agree, and scream your disbelief at how a certain album you love wasn’t included.  Also, remember that this is a list of soundtracks which are usually a collection of songs used in a movie as opposed to a score which is usually the instrumental accompaniment to the film created by a single composer (although there are obviously scores created by more than one composer).

If you want to click through the list like a chump, click here. It »

Horror Review: ‘Dance of The Dead’

28 October 2009 10:15 AM, PDT | The Flickcast | See recent The Flickcast news »

On the night of the big high school prom, the dead rise to eat the living, and the only people who can stop them are the losers who couldn’t get dates to the dance. Filled with a plethora of high school stereotypes, the group takes on a town for of brain hungry zombies and vow to save what’s left of the town from the adjacent power plant that seems to be the cause of the recent resurrections.

Those in the mood for a great zombie flick should pick this one up. Other critics have been quoted saying this film “makes Carrie look like Pretty in Pink,” though if you were to truly classify it, it’s much more like Shaun of the Dead meets Breakfast Club. Any fan of film who has seen dozens upon dozens of zombie movies knows the feeling of “how much ass they would kick if zombies were real. »

The New Moon soundtrack officially hit shelves a week ago and since then weve seen a great review from Entertainment Weekly mixed reviews from fans and today we get a very positive review from the people over at Rolling Stone. In their review they compare New Moon to John Hughes Pretty in Pink and even go so far as to say that Bram Stoker would be proud. Read their review below in which they gave the New Moon original soundtrack 4.5 starsThe genius of the Twilight saga is the way it celebrates the passion of the allAmerican fang hag with Robert Pattinson as the perfect plasmaslurping pinup boy Hes hot hes sexy and hes undead. So New Moon is a movie soundtrack but its also a concept album about the bond between teenage girls and their imaginary bloodsucker boyfriends. As a movie New Moon isnt too far from Pretty in Pink except now Duckies a werewolf. »

Ok Go talks 'The Twilight Saga: New Moon' soundtrack

13 October 2009 11:54 AM, PDT | Twilight Examiner | See recent Twilight Examiner news »

"We felt like we made it," said Ok Go about being asked to be a contributor to the official movie soundtrack for The Twilight Saga: New Moon. In an unusual turn of conversation, the two compared the album to Pretty In Pink's soundtrack. No, not because of the content of the New Moon Ost but instead because of its cultural positioning in present pop culture (presumably) as well as the line up of artists to be included (particularly their stature as some of this generation of music's "greats"). Ok Go then went on to talk about how they became a part of the New Moon soundtrack in another video, saying that Stephenie Meyer had asked them to play at a book signing event (which they were unable to attend), that they noticed her inclusion of their band in her acknowledgements page, and t »

For most of the early part of their career, Ok Go have been known as "the treadmill band" after scoring a massive viral hit with their video for "Here It Goes Again," a lo-fi affair that featured the band performing a tightly choreographed, all-in-one-take dance on a series of treadmills. Now they hope to graduate to a level that Paramore and Muse both know well: the "Twilight" band.

The group contributed a brand-new song called "Shooting the Moon" to the soundtrack for the upcoming film "New Moon."

"We're flattered," frontman Damian Kulash told MTV News. "It's a really amazing set of bands. It's a huge deal. We grew up listening to »

Reminder: Stargate Universe Premieres Tomorrow

1 October 2009 6:12 PM, PDT | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

Dust off your portal, dial in the symbols and make sure the seventh chevron is locked (sometimes it sticks) because Friday, October 2nd marks the two-hour premiere of the highly anticipated fourth entry into the Stargate series, Stargate Universe.

If you’re a fan of the Stargate series, then I don’t have to persuade you to tune in. You’re probably already donning your Teal’c costume trying to figure out if the gold paint will come off of your forehead (yes, but you have to rub really hard).

If you’re not a fan then you probably haven’t understood one thing I’ve said so far, but if you’re still reading this you might as well tune it, you’ll have fun. I promise. (I can’t guarantee that last statement. I can’t be held responsible If you’re a Negative Nancy.)

'Dare' to Peek at This Trailer

29 September 2009 5:02 PM, PDT | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

What would the Pretty in Pink love triangle between Andie, Duckie, and Blane look like if it was jettisoned forward in time a good 20+ years? Well, this should give you an indication: Imagine the trio in current times with Alan Cumming and Sandra Bernhard as the co-stars with clout. Has it made your imagination soar?

There's this Sundance comedy called Dare that was picked up by Image Entertainment back in August. Now that the film is gearing up for its November 13 release, Apple has scored a trailer (watch it over there or after the jump). There's Alexa, the "good girl" (Emmy Rossum), Ben, the "best friend" (Ashley Springer), and Johnny, the "bad boy" (Zach Gilford). Alexa starts up a romance with Johnny, while Ben feels dumped. That is, until Ben has his first kiss with Johnny and a confusing triangle forms that takes Threesome into the realms of high school. »

Pretty In Pink star Jon Cryer and his wife Lisa Joyner have adopted a baby daughter.

Baby Daisy, born on 11 August, is Cryer's first child with 42-year-old Joyner, who he married in 2007.

The actor has a nine-year-old son, Charlie, from his first marriage to Sarah Trigger.

Cryer is the second TV star in as many weeks to adopt - Grey's Anatomy star Katherine Heigl and her husband Josh Kelley took custody of 10-month-old Korean girl Nancy Leigh earlier this month. »

The Loved Ones Directed by Sean Byrne Sean Byrne's debut feature, The Loved Ones, crosses various horror touchstones, touching on teen angst, torture porn, melodrama and conventional slasher tropes. It's a gore-filled shocker that goes for laughs by paying homage to the outlandish low-budget video nasties of the '70s and '80s, blending together Misery, Saw, Prom Night, The Evil Dead and Carrie. The fusion of these horror classics makes The Loved Ones one of the best offerings at this year's Toronto International Film Festival. Bound to provoke reactions from more sensitive audience members, The Loves Ones is destined to become a cult fave. Leaving most viewers with their hands over their eyes and a smile grinning from ear to ear, this dark horse independent gem is a guaranteed wild and unforgettable ride.
