This is one of the best russian movies ever made
20 January 2000 | by (Riga, Latvia) – See all my reviews

This is one of the best russian movies ever made, but of course for people who like to find something special in movies. This movie could be found awful by people who prefer to watch easy-understandable-american-crappy films. Although... Levsha could be seen as kind of parody, kitch, irony, whatever on russian people, but made with love and pure simpathy. I could even say if you want to know what russian soul is or at least you'd like to learn about russian mentality more you should see this movie.. But of course you have to be familiar with that somehow already, otherwise it will be the most silly movie you have ever seen.. The way Levsha is filmed also is pretty interesting - its kinda mix of black and white silent movie and modern movie.. Actors are not saying a word with their own voices, but voice of guy telling the story.. This could be called experimental movie... well, what i'm telling you here.. its marvellous, ingenius, amazing, astonishing, wonderful, and its funny...
