Brought back some fun memories
cricketbat24 February 2022
The Leftovers was a Disney Sunday Movie that me and my family used to watch all the time when I was a kid. It's not as hilarious as I remember, but it was still amusing enough, and it brought back a lot of memories. John Denver isn't the greatest actor, but he's quite likable in this role. Plus, it's quite entertaining to see young Steve Urkel and Kimmy Gibbler.

Where can I find it?

As a kid of the early 80's, my parents used to tape movies every Sunday for us on "The Wonderful World of Disney" (we were so excited to get a VCR!) The Leftovers was my absolute favorite! It is a great story about a bunch of sweet kids who adore Max, the Father in their orphanage. But, when they are threatened to lose their home the kids find lots of quirky ways to make sure that doesn't happen. I remember watching this movie hundreds of times as a kid and never getting sick of it. I would love to be able to find a copy of it somewhere now. If anyone sees this and knows where I could find one please email me, and consider getting a copy for yourself too. It is truly a wonderful movie for the whole family!

When is this going to come out on DVD?

As a huge fan of the Disney Sunday night movies in the 1980's, this is one that sticks out in my mind. If anything could come out on DVD, it would be the whole collection of Disney Sunday night movies. I remember the opening credits of the movie & that catchy Howard Jones tune was playing. I had almost every one of these movies on tape, but unfortunately, they were on beta-max & my mom gave these tapes away without warning. Some other ones to check out are Casebusters, Mr. Boogedy, Bride of Boogedy, & Help Wanted Kids. If anyone knows of anyway that I could get these on VHS or DVD, it would be much appreciated.

I watched it a million times!!!

My dad taped this off the Disney Channel when I was a kid. My little brothers and I watched it over and over again. I haven't seen it for probably 15 years now. I would love to somehow find it to watch it again. I remember watching all the kids in the house do crazy things to keep them from getting adopted. the littlest girl, who was played by the same actress who played Kimmy Gibbler on Full House, was kinda crazy. She would take dolls apart like some kind of crazy surgeon and keep "dolls brains" in the refrigerator. The oldest boy was a genius inventor who had a lot of inventions in the attic. He was also in the movie Explorers along side River Phoenix and Ethan Hawke. This should seriously be on DVD or at least VHS. Maybe Disney will find the time and money to dig these classics out of their "vault" and put them out there for us fans to buy.

The Leftovers

Sunday nights were the best because there was always a cool new movie from the Wonderful World of Disney Presents....

I loved this movie and have been looking to get a copy. I just went on ebay and there is a copy, but it's PAL format and VHS. i asked the seller a million questions because I don't think it is a released copy, just a copy the seller made from a TV recording. However, the seller is in Australia and they do have things that we don't have access to. Again it's in PAL format so it won't work or destroy your VHS or DVD unless you get a PAL player. My friend got one for 30 bucks but I think he has everything to copy the PAL format to a regular USA copy. The seller has it up for auction for $16.99 minus s&h. I might buy it and I would be more than happy to make you a copy.

Remember how the first scene was Zoey...I think it was Zoey....who was on a bicycle doing a paper route and the song that was playing was Howard Jone's "New Song?" Remember the brain in the fridge? LOL. The best movie. I think I have it on VHS but I'm not sure which VHS it's on because my parents never labeled them. If I can find a copy, I'll have my friend burn it onto DVD. It might not be the best quality, but at least we will have the movie.

Zeny
