'ABC World News Now': Diana Perez has no problems working overnights while pregnant

16 December 2013 5:30 AM, PST | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

Working overnights while expecting her second child is fine with Diana Perez.

The current co-anchor (with John Muller) of ABC's early-early-morning "World News Now" has gotten accustomed to the hours, having had a permanent seat on the program since February. As a fill-in anchor for much of the previous year, she found what a good fit the often loose, humorous approach of the newscast was for her.

"When I was given the opportunity to go to the network," the spirited Perez says to Zap2it, "it was one of those things where I always thought, 'Ok. Now is when you've got to get serious.' While I still feel I am delivering true news and I am still a true professional, it's just so wonderful to be able to let loose. That is my personality.

"The format of the show plays so well into being able to show who you truly are, »

And autumn has arrived today!

Sun is still around, a cool breeze is in the year, trees and falling leaves look like a beautiful painting, and we can start wearing cosy jumpers. So for those who love this time of year, DS has compiled a list of 12 great autumnal movies for the 12 equinox hours to get you in the mood.

5 Things You Don't Know About Matt Bomer

This White Collar star has been drafted (unsuccessfully, of course) by 50 Shades of Grey fans to portray Christian Grey in the film version of the erotically-charged novel. Here are five things you may not know about Matt Bomer.

1. Born Matthew Staton Bomer on October 11, 1977 in Spring, Texas -- his father John was drafted by the NFL's Dallas Cowboys.

2. Attended Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pa, graduating the same year as his Magic Mike co-star Joe Manganiello.

3. Was director Brett Ratner's favored choice to play Clark Kent / Superman in his 2006 remake of Superman. But when Ratner left the project, new director Bryan Singer chose Brandon Routh over Bomer for the role.

It's Back to School Month at Tfe

Hello, lovelies. Beau here, fixating on a tiny moment from one of my favorite films.

John Hughes was a Godsend to me growing up. From the ages of 14 through 17, hardly a weekend went by where I wasn't revisiting one of his key entries over the span of a twenty year career. These viewings alternated between Weird Science, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Sixteen Candles, and The Breakfast Club. It's remarkable to me that we've managed to survive over ten years of remakes and rehashes, and no one has dared  touch any of his material. »

The 9 Most Shameless 'Alien' Ripoffs

5 September 2013 7:00 AM, PDT | NextMovie | See recent NextMovie news »

A distress signal from deep space. A blue-collar crew of astronauts discover a derelict space craft. A star beast of unknown origin chases them through dark pipe-lined corridors until there's only a few (if one) left. After the blockbuster success of Ridley Scott's sci-fi tinged haunted house movie "Alien" busted some blocks in 1979, it was only a matter of time before the low-budget copycats followed suit.

Not only were many of these knockoff movies kinda cool, but they turned out to be a proving ground of ideas and talent for future entries in the "Alien" franchise, including "Aliens," "Alien 3" and "Prometheus" … for realsimo. The first "Alien" was in itself a shameless "homage" to classic B-movies "Planet of the Vampires" and "It! The Terror from Beyond Space," so it's only fair that flicks like this week's Vin Diesel monster mash "Riddick" should take a page or seven from its playbook. »
