I am not a great fan of ALPHAVILLE, the movie this short spoofs. I think this one hits the issues with that movie squarely on the head, with its emphasis on how its model emphasizes style over substance, using then-current high design items a indicators of what the future would look like; it's not a new idea, since Frank Capra shot the Shangrila sequences of LOST HORIZON on University of California campuses.
Nonetheless, this one goes on far too long as it makes its point about then-current fashion obsession. It's a point worth making, yes. It also has no effect, and people will confuse style with substance, no matter how much you point it out.
