‘Life of the Party’ Trailer & Poster Sees Melissa McCarthy Going Back to College

New Line has released the first trailer for the Melissa McCarthy-led comedy ‘Life of the Party‘. The plot of the film revolves around a middle-aged mom named Deanna who, after a seemingly nasty divorce, decides to re-enroll in college. There’s just one problem, it’s the same college as her daughter. Reinventing herself as “Dee Rock” she ends up embracing the wild antics that come with senior year in college.

The film comes from McCarthy and director/husband Ben Falcone. Falcone previously directed McCarthy in ‘The Boss‘ as well as ‘Tammy‘, so we should king of know what to expect here. Although I’m not a huge fan of McCarthy’s more abrasive characters, this actually kind of seems like it could potentially be a fun comedy. I’ll admit that based on this trailer, it seems that the film’s plot bears somewhat of a resemblance to

Melissa McCarthy Goes Back to College in Trailer For The Comedy Life Of The Party

The first trailer has been released for Melissa McCarthy silly new comedy, Life of the Party. This movie was actually inspired by Rodney Dangerfield’s classic comedy, Back to School. Your interest in the film all depends on how you feel about McCarthy and her comedy style. She's hit or miss for me. Something she does some really funny stuff, while other times she falls flat. This one looks like it might fall flat.

The movie was directed by McCarthy's husband Ben Falcone, and this is the synopsis:

New Line Cinema’s comedy finds longtime dedicated housewife Deanna (McCarthy) turning regret into re-set by going back to college after her husband suddenly dumps her. Deanna lands in the same class and school as her daughter, Maddie (Molly Gordon), who’s not entirely sold on the idea. Plunging headlong into the campus experience, the increasingly outspoken Deanna–now going by Dee Rock–embraces freedom,

Melissa McCarthy Goes Back to School in ‘Life of the Party’ Trailer
Melissa McCarthy is headed back to school in the first trailer for her film “Life of the Party,” which debuted Monday on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”

McCarthy stars and her husband, Ben Falcone, directed the comedy — which appears to be partly derived from Rodney Dangerfield’s 1986 hit “Back to School.” One major difference, however, is that the film starts with her husband unexpectedly leaving her, leading to McCarthy’s character collecting a big pile of remembrances of her married life and setting them on fire.

She tells her daughter, played by Molly Gordon, that she’s joining her at school, asserting, “I don’t regret staying home and being your mom, but I regret not getting my degree.”

The trailer features McCarthy’s character getting a makeover from her daughter and shocking her best friend, played by Maya Rudolph, by having what looks like sex in the campus library. “Modern Family” star Julie Bowen, Chris Parnell, and Gillian Jacobs

Pete’s 2017 Media Diary

This is the fourth year publishing the list of television, movies, and books that I read throughout the year. It’s always interesting to look back on the content you have consumed with your viewing and reading habits laid out in front of you. It can be pretty scary for those not ready to truly look inside their own mind. For me, my biggest takeaway is always… “I need to read more books”. Looking through my 2017 media diary it’s hard to deny the fact I read zero books. I did however watch plenty of great television, and a few great movies. (Here’s to changing that in 2018).

2017 was the year in which my excitement for new television far exceeded my excitement for new movies. I continued my trend from 2016 where I felt I watched more television than movies. Television had a far larger impact on me, and sure there

10 Things You Didn’t Know about “Back to School”

This had to be one of Rodney Dangerfield’s best movies, if not The best. I dunno, Caddyshack was pretty good but then again he wasn’t the star. This film allowed him to just go nuts and do what he did in a big way. His supporting cast was great and the costars he was paired with did a wonderful job of letting him shine and adding in their own two cents as well when it was time. It had kind of a slow start to it but it got rolling quickly after a couple of minutes and it didn’t stop
