Dwayne Johnson seems like one of the toughest men in the business, but there was a time in his life when he didn't think he had much to offer. But the 43-year-old wrestler-turned-actor revealed that his depression became crippling. "I wish I had someone at that time who could just pull me aside and say, 'Hey it's gonna be ok,'" The Rock said. But for those who suffer from depression, Johnson advised that they should keep pushing through because eventually it will turn around for the better. "You just gotta remember: Hold on to »

The gender wage gap issue has finally come to the forefront of conversations in Hollywood. Thanks to Jennifer Lawrence's essay and Patricia Arquette's Oscar speech, everyone is talking about an issue that, frankly, has been allowed to endure for far too long. Jennifer Lawrence's recent essay really stuck a chord with Hollywood. She's definitely not the first woman to address the discrepancy in pay between actors and actresses, but something about her essay has catalyzed a lot of other women to speak out on this issue. When Oprah Winfrey was asked about Lawrence's comments on the CBS morning show she said, "I think it's a moment in time... I think the conversation has hit a critical moment." Recently, People Magazine asked Sharon Stone her thoughts on the gender pay gap and she shared that, "After 'Basic Instinct,' no one wanted to pay me. I remember »

If you're like us and value your sleep, you probably nodded off into your Ambien dreamland before the party started on post-prime time TV. Don't worry; we've got you covered. Here's the best of what happened last night on late night.
Let's get this late night party started with "Modern Family's" Ty Burrell, who spent his time on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" selling Mary Kay products / recruiting Kimmel's employees to join his makeup squad (a squad even cooler than that of Taylor Swift). The biggest takeaway from this sketch: Mary Kay is still a thing people use. Who knew?
More importantly (no offense, Ty), Jimmy Kimmel pitched to "Shark Tank." His brilliant idea? The Kid Cone. Essentially, a giant cone you shove on your child for their own safety. What could go wrong? (Also, his other idea was "hats for fruit" - we don't want to talk about it.)
Over on "Late Night, »

The host of The Nida’a Show - whose guests have included Oprah, Bill Clinton, Arab rappers and niqab-wearing standups - talks about the power of Turkish soap operas to change the lives of women in the Middle East
Is the Middle East ready for Zainab Salbi’s new talk show? With her cropped hair, long suede boots and gold, hooped earrings, the 46-year-old activist is glamorous and distinctive. But after dedicating 20 years to the harrowing work of helping women in war and conflict zones, hosting a primetime talk show is a surprising career twist.
It’s certainly an ambitious one – guests have included Oprah Winfrey, Bill Clinton and Donna Karan. And the Nida’a Show, which premiered last month on the Discovery Channel’s TLC network, is being broadcast in 22 countries across the Middle East and North Africa. Yet none of this scratches the surface of Salbi’s real »

Maria Shriver didn't have a highly publicized 60th birthday party Friday night, but there's no denying ... it was the best party in town. The guest list was impossible to beat ... Calvin Mitchell claims the star almost adopted him as a child. Unfortunately for him, Oprah has got a planet to save
A rousing salute to Oprah Winfrey, whose calm in the face of the madder extremes of her fandom is something to behold.
Leaving the studio after a recent appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Oprah was greeted at the stage door by the usual clutch of fans and paparazzi, as well as a gentleman who claims to be the “secret son” she almost adopted when he was 11 years old. Calvin Mitchell reckons they met on the set of the 1993 TV movie There Are No Children Here, and that Oprah opened negotiations to take him off his mother’s hands, but that the deal eventually fell apart.

Times sure have changed. When Ellen DeGeneres came out as a gay woman back in 1997, she was one of the first to break the Hollywood mold. But, as she reveals in an episode of Oprah’s Master Class, set to air on Sunday, Oct. 25, she almost didn’t do it. “I didn’t think I was going to come out, period,” she says in a preview clip of the show. “I didn’t think I’d be coming out on a show, ever.” DeGeneres, 57, came out on the Oprah Winfrey [...] »
Ellen DeGeneres says she "don't know nothin'," but that's not entirely true. After all, in Sunday's episode of Oprah's Master Class on Own, the comedienne and daytime talk show host shares some of the life lessons she's learned in her 57 years. Long before she became a household name, a 20-something DeGeneres was struggling to make ends meet in New Orleans. The young comic painted houses, waited tables, bartended and sold vacuum cleaners to pay the bills. One night at a fundraiser, friends encouraged her to get onstage and "do something funny." "I brought a Whopper, fries and a shake and I went onstage and I said, 'This is my first time being on stage, and I have to »
Spoiler Alert: Do not read ahead if you have not watched “Empire” season two, episode five, which aired on Wednesday, Oct. 21.
“Empire” was full of violent situations on Wednesday night’s episode, starting with Tiana (Serayah) getting ambushed by fake fans who tried to hurt and mug her, Cookie’s (Taraji P. Henson) Lyon Dynasty label getting raided by armed men and finally ending with Hakeem (Bryshere Gray) getting kidnapped.
It remains to be seen if Lucious (Terrence Howard) and Thirsty (Andre Royo) were behind the acts of crime, but many signs point to Empire’s main man being guilty. “Thirsty is acting on Lucious’ orders,” showrunner Ilene Chaiken tells Variety.
Also brewing at Empire was Andre (Trai Byers) back in his father’s good graces, after he dug up Uncle Vernon (Malik Yoba) on last week’s episode. However, Andre — who got baptized during the episode — wasn’t feeling himself at Empire, »
