Storyline

Jerrica Benton is the owner of Starlight Music and the Starlight Foundation, which is a foster home for young girls. But by using her earrings to project a holographic image over herself, she is transformed into her alter ego Jem, the lead singer for the successful music group, Jem and the Holograms. Other members of the group are Jerrica's sensitive little sister Kimber, the strong-willed Aja, and the creative Shana. The group's rivals are The Misfits, made up of the cold-hearted Pizzazz, the tough-acting Roxy, and the humble Stormer. Jem and her friends are always involved in glamorous and exciting adventures around the world, while touching people's hearts with their hit songs. Written by Anonymous

Trivia

The show started out as 6-minute segments shown on Super Sunday (1985), which aired in late 1985. All these segments, which form the first five episodes, were later slightly revised when they were released as a VHS tape in 1986. The show went in full production and then started airing on its own in July 1986 until 1988. See more »

Goofs

In the episode "In search of the stolen album", Jem and the Holograms get a ransom note. The first line quite obviously reads "In search of good times," but the girls read out loud and then repeat "In search of good tunes." See more »

Quotes

Pizzazz: Why do you always think the worst of me?
Stormer: Don't answer that, Jem.

They don't make them like they used to..
21 July 2003 | by (Georgia) – See all my reviews

Looking at the trash cartoons they have out nowadays like Pokemon, it makes me really miss this cartoon, and this was probably one of the only cartoons that was made especially for girls! And it was really good and Jem was such a great role model. The songs and the outfits were great! It got a little outrageous at times, (Jem actually won the Indy 500 once!), but hey since Barbie could do every career so why not Jem? I miss this show, it was truly a classic and I'm hoping for either reruns or maybe DVDs one day in the near future
