Watch Tom Holland's 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' Audition Tape (Exclusive)

17 October 2017 8:30 AM, PDT | Entertainment Tonight | See recent Entertainment Tonight news »

Being cast as Spider-Man is a once in a lifetime opportunity. But if you want to crunch some numbers on exactly how difficult it was for Tom Holland to land the part of Peter Parker, this exclusive featurette on the Spider-Man: Homecoming Blu-ray reveals 7,500 actors submitted audition tapes for the latest reboot of the character before the studios met with 200 of them.

"It was a pretty daunting process. I went through a phase of just doing self tapes after self tapes after self tapes," Holland recalls. Watch his own audition tape above, which even includes some early webslinging moves.

The clip also explains why Holland was ultimately "different than everyone else" and includes his first screen tests alongside Iron Man himself, Robert Downey Jr., who remembers, "I got to meet Tom while he was in the final running there."

Watch the First 10 Minutes of Spider-Man: Homecoming

25 September 2017 12:22 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Sony Pictures has released the first 10 minutes of Spider-Man: Homecoming, which comes just after it beat out Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 as the biggest superhero movie of the year at the worldwide box office ($874.4 million). While Wonder Woman's $411.7 million still has Spider-Man: Homecoming beat domestically ($331.9 million), it's still been an impressive run for the new web-slinger, with Tom Holland becoming the third actor to take over the role in the past 15 years. If you still haven't gotten around to seeing the movie yet, these first 10 minutes not only set up the journey of the villainous Adrian Toomes, but also takes fans back to the events of Captain America: Civil War, from a much different perspective.

This video debuted on Sony Pictures Entertainment YouTube today, just one day before Spider-Man: Homecoming will be available on Digital HD, which opens with Adrian Toomes and his salvage crew starting to clean »

Spider-Man: Homecoming Swings Onto Blu-Ray With Tons Of Extras

5 September 2017 5:43 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

No matter if you prefer Marvel or DC, I think we can all agree that 2017 has thus far been an exceptionally great year for comic book movies. Having said that, many of you out there probably can’t wait to add each of them to your respective home video collections. In fact, one in particular that we’re especially looking forward to purchasing is that of Peter Parker’s first solo outing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Released back in July and currently sitting at 92% on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s fair to say the film has solidified its status as a massive hit and a welcome return to Marvel for the character. While it may not be the best comic book movie of 2017, it’s certainly the best film adaptation of the Web-Head to date and as such, there’s much excitement surrounding its upcoming Blu-ray release. Hitting store shelves on October 7th, »

Espn ’30 for 30': ‘Morningside 5’ Revisits La High School Basketball Stars 25 Years Later

8 August 2017 3:39 PM, PDT | The Wrap | See recent The Wrap news »

Coming off the network’s first Oscar win for “Oj: Made in America,” Espn’s latest “30 for 30” film delves into Los Angeles sports history once again. Premiering Tuesday night, “Morningside 5” is a fresh, new story for most viewers, but it’s well-traveled ground for filmmaker Mike Tollin, who first filmed five high school basketball stars — Stais Boseman, Dwight Curry, Corey Saffold, Dominic Ellison and Sean Harris — from Inglewood, California, back in 1992. Then new to Hollywood himself, documentary filmmaker Tollin teamed up with “Head of the Class” actor Brian Robbins to capture the essence of inner city high school basketball in. »

In fact, one in particular that I’m especially looking forward to purchasing is that of Peter Parker’s first solo outing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Just yesterday, we came across a listing for Batman vs. Two-Face ahead of any official studio confirmation saying that the animated film is slated for an October release. Funnily enough, we’re now finding ourselves in a similar situation with Spidey. As it turns out, Australian retailer Jb Hi-Fi claims the hit film will come home on October 18.

How Former Teen Idols Are Getting Second Lives on Ya Shows Like ‘Riverdale’ and ‘13 Reasons Why’

27 April 2017 2:36 PM, PDT | Indiewire Television | See recent Indiewire Television news »

More than 30 years after enduring “16 Candles,” Molly Ringwald is heading back to the school dance, and “Riverdale” couldn’t be happier.

The former teen icon, known for her membership in the ‘80s Brat Pack and her John Hughes pedigree, guest stars on Thursday’s “Riverdale” as Archie’s mom Mary. She and her estranged husband Fred (Luke Perry) will be back together temporarily to see their son perform at the high school dance. While the casting was a natural fit because of Ringwald’s red hair, her teen star cred also helped. Both “Riverdale” and “13 Reasons Why” are two teen-centric shows that have been bringing back former teen stars to play the older generation, and reaping the benefits.

Head of the Class’s Khrystyne Haje Reveals She Recovered from Stage IV Breast Cancer: ‘I Feel Fantastic’

6 April 2017 10:44 AM, PDT | PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news »

Doctors estimated Head of the Class‘s Khrystyne Haje had just two years left to live when she was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer, but now, two years later, the disease is gone.

“I feel fantastic,” the actress, 48, tells People. “It’s all gone now! Now there’s nothing.”

Haje almost didn’t get diagnosed at all. In 2015, she was dealing with intense stomach pain, but her general doctor thought it was just acid reflux, or a gluten intolerance. Frustrated, she decided to take herself to Nyu Medical Center and wait for the first oncologist she could see.
