Trivia

In Degrassi High: Bad Blood: Part 1 (1990) and Degrassi High: Bad Blood: Part 2 (1990), Neil Hope (Wheels) stood in for Darrin Brown (Dwayne) for the scene in which Dwayne had a blood test shot taken form his arm because Brown was afraid of needles.
Byrd Dickens, who played Kathleen's (Rebecca Haines) abusive ex-boyfriend, worked as a member of the electrical crew on the show when he wasn't acting.
Sue Johanson, host of the Sunday Night Sex Show (1996), voiced the character of Dr. Sally, a sex expert whose radio show Yick Yu and Arthur Kobalewsky call, in the episode Degrassi High: Great Expectations (1988). At the time the episode was made Dr. Johanson hosted a radio show called Sex with Sue. Johanson appeared on screen in the episode Degrassi High: The Whole Truth (1989). Johanson played Dr. Sally again in the Degrassi: The Next Generation (2001) episodes Degrassi: The Next Generation: The Mating Game (2001) and Degrassi: The Next Generation: Careless Whisper (2003).
The filming schedule for Degrassi took place between April to November (with a two-week summer break in the middle). The schedule was set up that way, so the actors would miss the least amount of school. Since the show was filmed during the summer, most of the characters wear summer clothing throughout the series. Even in episodes that took place in the middle of the school year, many of the characters are walking around in shorts.
In the first episode as Ms. Avery is taking attendance, one of the twins, later known as Heather and Erica, is referred to as "Stacy".

The school used in the first three seasons was Daisy Avenue Public School, now called Vincent Massey Public School. At the time a private school was operating on the first floor, Degrassi was mostly shot on the second floor and the ground gym floor was used for the school dances and the science fair in one episode. The front entrance was also used when the private school was not in session. The school is located in Toronto on Daisy Avenue. The same hallway on the second floor was used in all the scenes that featured characters by their lockers, different camera angles and locker configurations were used to give the allusion of various different hallways. The Dundas street public school was used for the background shots and was also used in The Kids of Degrassi Street (1979). The school used for Degrassi High was a teachers college and is now part of Centennial College.
