Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that, instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, you use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

Sex & Nudity

Sex & Nudity: 1/10

There's a towel-clad girl in a pirate camp, but nothing explicitly shown, can only see her back.

A woman is shown inside a camp of Vietnamese soldiers. She is shown alone in a room with a soldier, kissing him. Cleavage, but NO nudity, and sex is clearly implied.

Vietnamese prostitute is a distraction in the enemy camp.

Rambo is stripped naked and tortured by being lowered into a pit. Non-sexual, but his buttocks are visible.

During the interrogation scene Rambo is stripped and bound, and he sweats heavily. The scene may be considered erotic by some viewers.

Violence & Gore

Violence & Gore: 6/10

This movie has a bad reputation for this but most scenes of violence are just your basic war movie stuff ie soldiers & combatants shooting at each other during battles, firefights, ambushes etc, nothing disturbing or extreme. Blood levels are very low despite a high body count. The tone is more like a cartoon or comic book war movie, than a gritty, realistically violent film.

Lots of soldiers are killed throughout with bullet holes being briefly seen, some of them bloody. Some blood spray is also seen.

Rambo shoots lots of vehicles and buildings with an explosive arrow

Rambo is tortured by electrocution, he shakes and yells in pain, and a Russian cuts a scar down his eye, and Rambo winces in pain. This scene is intense but not distressing.

A person is killed by machine gun fire, and the pool of water turns partially red with blood.

Rambo shoots a soldier with an explosive arrow; the soldier is blown up with some non-graphic bits of flesh being seen very briefly. Not graphic at all, and quite comical.

Rambo shoots several pirates with a shotgun; bloody holes briefly visible, although they are relatively undetailed.

Rambo shoots a boat and later a helicopter with an RPG.

Rambo stabs a man who is strangling him with a knife offscreen. You do see blood drip onto his hands though.

Profanity: 4/10

1 use of "fuck" and lots of other milder language like shit and bastard

Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking: 1/10

The soldiers are seen smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol at times

Frightening/Intense Scenes: 4/10

The battle scenes and the scene of the man's body exploding are mildly intense. As is the torture scene. There's also a scene where the Russian sergeant tells his bodygurad to cut out a POW's eye, but doesn't. May be suspenseful for first-time audiences.

Rambo leads a platoon of VC soldiers into a field which he then sets on fire, trapping them and burning them alive.
