Cher has big plans for 2012, but don’t call it a comeback. The pop goddess has rarely slowed down in her 49-year career. Cher began recording her 26th studio album as of 2011, and plans to release “The Greatest Thing,” a duet with Lady Gaga, as its first single. The Armenian beauty won’t stop there. Cher announced via Twitter in February that she will also tour beginning in September 2012, her first tour in seven years. While she upholds her music and acting career, the mom of two still manages to be there for her kids. Not only was Cher Chaz Bono’s biggest fan while he was on Dancing With The Stars, but she also recently attended the GLAAD Media Awards with her son. Cher is such a supporter of Chaz and Lgbt rights, she’s currently in a feud with Mitt Romney and Donald Trump over the issue.

"Say Anything" was not particularly successful on its release. John Cusack was an established star of films like "The Sure Thing," but co-star Ione Skye was basically unknown, and director Cameron Crowe was, despite his writing credit on "Fast Times At Ridgemont High" eight years earlier, not a known quantity. As such, despite rave reviews, it only took $20 million at the domestic box office, and a meagre $733,000 internationally -- indeed, in many territories, like the U.K, it went straight to video.
But over time, partly thanks to the success of Crowe's later work like "Jerry Maguire" and "Almost Famous," and partly because of the slow realization of its brilliance, the rom-com -- which follows the fledgling relationship between ambition-free aspiring kickboxer Lloyd Dobler (John Cusack) and valedictorian Diane Court (Ione Skye), whose father (John Mahoney) is in trouble with the law -- has become one of the most beloved »

Previously on Streep Reader Rankings we covered The French Lieutenant's Woman, Music of the Heart, Doubt, The Deer Hunter, One True Thing, and Ironweed. Now we hit the top ten. Ten and Nine were a statistical tie, constantly trading dominance as I tallied the results of your ballots. Since both films were listed in last place on 7% of the ballots, I broke the tie by looking at first place votes. Only one of the two had any.
Top Ten Streep Nominated Performances
According to The Film Experience Readers
10. Julie & Julia (2009)
Role & Balloting: Streep has played many biographical parts in her long career which accounts for some of her record-obliterating nomination haul (8 of her 17 nominations are for biographical roles and she is now 5 nominations beyond her nearest rival Jack Nicholson). This widely seen warm serio-comic interpretation of the famous chef Julia Child is the last film in the countdown without any #1 placements on reader ballots. »

They have a right to be pissed.
It's the most important morning of the year. Hollywood is temporarily jolted from its stupor for a ten-minute rollercoaster of natural highs and shattered dreams. Nothing but ... shattered dreams.
It's those shattered dreams that immediately become the focus after the Oscar nominations are announced. With only five slots per category, deserving actors are excluded, and that's when the fun begins, as the discussion about the "snubs" commences.
That was especially true this year, as a flurry of serious contenders were nowhere to be found. Charlize Theron, Tilda Swinton, Leonardo Dicaprio, and Albert Brooks were the names most bandied about, along with Andy Serkis (and they should really either nominate him, or give him a special Oscar for his unique contributions to film.)
Of course, Oscar has a history of overlooking interesting and memorable performances. Let's take a look at a few notable Oscar omissions. »

News that our favorite cardigan sweater enthusiast Taylor Swift has been offered the role of Eponine in "King's Speech" Oscar winner Tom Hooper's big screen musical adaptation of the classic Broadway show/Victor Hugo novel "Les Miserables," co-starring acting A-listers Russell Crowe, Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway, has everyone in the MTV Newsroom in a tizzy.
If she chooses to take the role, will she be any good? We reached out to fans, who seem to want to give the Speak Now singer the benefit of the doubt, and personally think the country-pop superstar will do just fine in the role (can't you just hear her singing "On My Own" already?), but every time a singer puts on the acting cap the critics come out with their pitchforks to proclaim that the odds are against her and most singers make for pretty crappy actors.
Well, that's sometimes true. Madonna, »
