The film strongly implies that, in order to ensure secrecy regarding the Gleiwitz raid which served as a catalyst for World War II, that the SS officers organizing this incident were killed to ensure their silence. No record exists of any SS officer being murdered to protect this war secret, and the SS man in charge of the raid (Alfred Naujocks) survived the war and lived until 1966 when he died of natural causes.
