Popular Monday Night Double-Feature Block to Present Full Month of Horror Madness

Culver City, Calif., Sept. 26, 2011 - Sony Movie Channel is celebrating Halloween throughout the entire month of October as its weekly double-feature block Mandays takes a stab as Killer Mandays.

“Sony Movie Channel is thrilled to bring such high quality horror films to our viewers during the month of October,” said Superna Kalle. “With such prestigious filmmakers as John Carpenter and Tsui Hark programmed for Killer Mandays, our audience will be screaming for more.”

The thrills will continue online when from Monday, October 3rd - Thursday, November 3rd, sonymoviechannel.com will launch a “Killer Mandays Costume Contest,” where people can submit a photograph of their best horror costume. The winner, voted on by the public, will win a Sony Blu-ray Player and a “Resident Evil” Blu-ray collection. Additional prizing to ten second place winners will include a “Resident Evil” Blu-ray collection. »

Shriekfest 2011: Exclusive Q&A with Filmmaker Devi Snively

On Thursday September 29th the 2011 Shriekfest Film Festival kicks off in Los Angeles. The festival annually celebrates the best filmmakers working on the independent horror scene and to get you indie horror loving fans out there ready for this year's films, Dread Central will be bringing you a series of exclusive Q&A interviews with many of this year's Shriekfest featured filmmakers over the next week or so.

Check out our first interview with writer/director/producer Devi Snively who's short film Last Seen on Dolores Street will be screening at Shriekfest as part of "Shorts Program #2" on Sunday, October 2nd which begins at 12:00 pm. Snively is no stranger to Shriekfest as several of her other projects have made the festival cut over previous years.

The key players of "The King's Speech" - Tom Hooper and Colin Firth

The Time 100 list always fascinates me, the whos and whys of the list never failing to hold my interest. First point of reference though is, okay, who from our world of film made it… James Cameron? Morgan Spurlock? Johnny Depp? Who???

For those of you who are similarly inclined, here are the folk from film on this year’s list, do you agree with their inclusion???

Amy Poehler – although known primarily for her work on “Saturday Night Live” and “Parks and Recreation,” she is, of course, a familiar face on film. “Baby Mama,” “Alvin and the Chipmunks,” “Blades of Glory” and “Mean Girls” come most easily to mind.

Geoffrey Canada – not quite a known entity in film, this incredible educator is featured heavily in a film of which we’re fans, Davis Guggenheim’s documentary “Waiting for ‘Superman. »

We sense a great disturbance in the Force. This Friday, Star Wars: The Clone Wars unleashes its latest villain, Savage Opress. He’s a similarly-horned kinsman of Episode I’s fearsome Sith lord, Darth Maul. But despite his sinister-sounding name — not to mention the episode title, “Monster” — Savage (pronounced Suh-vahj) is one of the most complex baddies Star Wars has ever given us.
