Armin Mueller-Stahl was offered the part of Prof. Brinkmann. Mueller-Stahl did not want to commit to a long-running TV-series at the time, so he turned the producers down.

Originally composer Martin Böttcher wrote a title theme for this series, but it was changed to the theme by 'Hans Hammerschmid'. But the music wasn't lost, it was used instead for the series Forsthaus Falkenau.
