Storyline

A cartoon spin-off of the wildly popular television show Punky Brewster, the series revolved around the adventures of Punky and her pet Glomer, who was a magical leprechaun gopher; because of course every '80s cartoon needed anthropomorphic sidekick.

Trivia

The popularity of the series Punky Brewster (1984) inspired this Saturday morning cartoon for NBC. The network decided to use the same actors from the live series to voice the cartoon as well. To keep children's interest in watching, the magical Glomer was added to cause the children to land in one adventure after another. See more »

Theme Song: I went to the end where the rainbows are. There wasn't any pot of gold. Instead I found a new friend who is three feet tall... But when the rainbow faded, he was left behind. And a lot like Punky, he is one-of-a-kind. Punky Brewster, I always want you here with me-e. Uh-oh, uh-oh. Punky Brewster, together we're a fantasy. Uh-oh, uh-oh. Punky Brewster, we'll always be the best of frie-ends. Punky Brewster, you know our friendship will never e-end. Uh, oh. Uh, oh.

Which came first?

Better yet, which was better? Which lasted longer?

I actually remember watching the cartoon first. I never saw the actual TV show until it repeated on the Family Channel. Believe it or not, folks, I liked the cartoon better. Maybe it's because I'm getting old.

Still, the cartoon works well enough, and hopefully, all the characters from the show did their own voices.

This opens up with Punky finding the end of the rainbow. There, she finds a little village with little creatures, but one named "Glomer" gets left behind when the rainbow disappears. It's kinda like E.T., only with a cuter girl

(and look at her now. Damn!)

This was a pretty ok show. One of my favorite episodes is where Punky has gone to the National Spelling Bee Finals. To help her out, Glomer creates a "bee" that actually helps you spell.
