C-3PO and R2-D2 have been dumped by their smuggler master on the desert planet of Ingo. As luck would have it, they meet the racing team of Thall Joben & Jord Dusat, who are desperate to find an Astomech droid to use as in their 'White Witch' speeder. Unfortunately, the racers get too close to Tig Fromm's secret base and are set upon by the infamous gang leader's son private army of war-droids. Unexpected help comes from the female freedom fighter Kea Moll.
Kea takes Thall, Jord and the droids to her home planet of Annoo. Once there, she reveals both her mother Demma and herself to be members of the Rebel Alliance out to find the location of the Trigon One in order to destroy it. Meanwhile, Sise Fromm himself has vowed to find the meddlers who stumbled upon his son's secret base. Little does he suspect the objects of his search to be stowing away on his ship to return to the base in question.
Thall Joben, Kea Moll and the droids are captured by the Fromm gang on Ingo, but Thall will only tell where he and Artoo have hidden the Trigon One weapon satellite to gang leader Sise Fromm himself. They are taken to the Fromm hideout on Annoo, where Jord Dusat and Demma Moll are already being held captive.
Thall Joben and Jord Dusat have finally arrived at the Boonta Speeder Race, but the disgraced Sise Fromm has followed them and hires Boba Fett to sabotage the meddling racers. The White Witch speeder is in need of some repairs before entering the race, and Threepio meets a droid, BL-17, who offers them the services of his master's garage. Little does the protocol droid suspect that BL-17 is owned by Boba Fett, who plans to enter the Boonta race himself in his Silver Speeder.
Artoo and Threepio lose their new jobs waiting tables at Doodnik's café and end up part of a droid auction. After he saves Uncle Gundy during a cave in, they Jann decides to call the alien 'Kez-Iban'. But there is a reward out for the mysterious alien, and evil mining boss Kleb Zellock intends to earn it.
Jann Tosh and the droids are accompanying Prince Mon Julpa to his home planet of Tammuz-an, where he is to be crowned king. However, the evil vizier Zatec-Cha is scheming to get rid of Julpa and take the royal scepter for himself. Bounty hunter IG-88 closes in and captures both Julpa, who is thrown into a pit with a vicious Durkii by Zatec-Cha. Can Threepio and Artoo recover the scepter before first sun, at which time the new king must be crowned?
Pirate Kybo Ren-Cha has high-jacked a fuel transporter piloted by Jessica Meade and the droids. The pirates also capture Jann Tosh, who is accompanying her in an RZ-1 A-Wing interceptor and take them to their hidden base on the planet Tarnoonga. While captain Kybo plans to make Jessica his consort, Jann is thrown into the sea to be devoured by the Miridon sea monster.
Mon Julpa is holding peace negotiations with his warrior rival Lord Toda. Pirate Kybo Ren is sprung from his jail cell by his first mate Gyn Obah, and takes Toda's daughter Princess Gerin hostage during his escape. King Julpa surrenders himself to Lord Toda while his advisers Jann and Jess mount a rescue mission to the Bog moon of Bogden.
Jann Tosh and the droids are seeing to it that Prince Coby makes it safely to the Space Academy. While waiting to change ships at Zelakesh, Coby's rare and valuable pet Ingey is stolen by the Starhunters to be part of their Intergalactic Menagerie. An overwrought Coby forces Artoo and Threepio to 'borrow' a brand new Blachawk Destroyer to follow the Starhunters as they make their escape into Hyperspace.
The droids' new master, Mungo Boabab, plans to open up a new trade route to the Roon system and save his father's Merchant Fleet from financial ruin. While trailing the Rainbow comets over the planet Manga, his ship, Caravel, is high jacked by a tractor beam from the new Ambu light-station in the Cloak of Sith. Once aboard the station, Governor Koong mistakes Mungo for an emissary from Imperial Admiral Screed (an old enemy of Baobab). Koong had invited the Admiral to take a look at his illegal ware, including Mupple delicacies, the valuable explosive Nurgon 14, and ...
Mungo and the droids are shot down in their stolen Cloudcar over the planet Roon by Koong's drone pilots. The planet offers them many threats such as mud-men and a giant Shamunaar. Young athlete Auren Yomm comes to their rescue and Mungo decides to help her compete at the Roon Games. When Auren's Umbo racing team members Gee Long and Bix are drugged, Mungo and Threepio fill in for them during the Drainsweeper Race.
Mungo is about return to Manda when Auren presents him with a Roonstone. She leads him to Old Ogger, an old hermit living in a crashed freighter. Ogger is none other than Mungo's long lost uncle, who entrusts Mungo with his kit bag filled with six bags of Roonstones and plenty of clues to find their source. Hot on their trail, Governor Koong and Admiral Screed capture Mungo and friends and put them on a ship to Koong Island.
Governor Koong's plan to use germ warfare on the province of Umboo backfires when he becomes infected with Rooze himself. Healer Nilz Yomm is desperate to find a cure for his wife Bola, but he and his daughter Auren are abducted by Gaff to cure the governor. Mungo and the droids travel to Koong's frozen hideout to rescue the Yomms and manage to solve the last clues to find the source of the Roonstones in the process.
