Michael Keaton was originally approached to play Bob McGraw. The role later went to Steve Guttenberg, who, over the course of a weekend, instead signed on to "Police Academy", leaving the production without a lead actor.
In Spain the movie was titled "Los albóndigas en remojo", pretending to be a sequel of Meatballs (1979) that was title "Los incorregibles albóndigas". This movie was released on theaters on Summer 1984, and Meatballs Part II (1984) in Summer 1986. For long time this was considered part of the saga.
Tim Matheson (Bob McGraw) and Stephen Furst (Gonzer) are fraternity brothers in this movie, they also appear together in Animal House (1978) as fraternity brothers Otter (Matheson) and Flounder (Furst).
Tim Matheson would later appear as the father of Van Wilder (2002) another college-themed comedy where the title character is similar to his character in this film, by having intentionally stayed in college for more than the normal four years. That film was also produced by National Lampoon, which produced Animal House (1978) and also co-starring Matheson.
