Trivia

Actor Clint Eastwood's housemate since 1975, Sondra Locke, who had co-starred with him in six previous films, was not cast in the lead female role in this movie or any of the five others Eastwood made during the remainder of their relationship. Sudden Impact (1983) was the last Eastwood film that Locke appeared in and reportedly, the Warner Brothers studio executives told Eastwood that the public had tired of seeing movies of him teamed with Locke and not to make any more pictures with her. Quotes

Wes Block: Twenty-eight years ago I borrowed 40 dollars from my father, packed up an old, beat up suitcase, took a bus and came here. I was seventeen at the time. While I walked through the French Quarter, I looked out over the Mississippi and swore I'd never leave.
Beryl Thibodeaux: Ever come close?
Wes Block: Only once. When I looked down and saw that the suitcase was missing.

This Isn't Harry Callahan.
9 September 2013 | by See all my reviews

Clint Eastwood plays New Orleans policeman Wes Block, who is investigating a series of brutal attacks and murders on women. Wes becomes disturbed because some of the evidence describing the criminal reflects his own fetishes and feelings, though of course disgusted by the killings. He then befriends a rape counselor(played by Genevieve Bujold) who tries to understand Block's feelings, as she helps him understand the killer, so he can stop him.

Unusual story for Clint doesn't really work, since his character is somewhat unsympathetic, though he is a father of two daughters, some aspects of the story are just sleazy, and the mystery angle is undistinguished and ultimately anti-climatic. A misfired thriller.
