Hamilton Slams 'T3'

26 December 2002 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Terminator beauty Linda Hamilton has slammed the forthcoming third installment of the futuristic robot thriller as 'soulless.' Hamilton, who was married to Terminator and T2 director James Cameron, refused to star in the latest update of the robot saga when she read the script. She says, "The script I saw just didn't have the soul that the others did and I didn't want to be part of it. Despite all the action of the first two Terminator movies, they were actually pretty high minded. There was a message about the human condition and Terminator 3 seems to have no regard for human life whatsoever." »

Arnold Schwarzenegger To Walk Down the Aisle Again

2 September 2002 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Arnold Schwarzenegger and his wife Maria Shriver are set to renew their vows - 25 years after they first met. The Terminator star, 55, and his 46-year-old journalist spouse have now put all of their past troubles behind them and want to show their loved ones just how solid their renewed relationship is with the ceremony, say friends. A pal explains, "Arnie and Maria have decided to put their troubles behind them and make a fresh start at married life. Yup They fell in love at first sight and want to return to the way they felt that day. The plan is to have a priest perform the ceremony, and they want the whole Kennedy clan there." The romantic evening is set to take place at the Shriver mansion in Maryland, with a big party afterwards. The pair are hoping that Maria's ailing mother Eunice will be able to attend. And sources tell American tabloid The Star that Maria and Arnold would like the guest of honor to be American news anchor Tom Brokaw, who introduced them at the Robert F Kennedy Pro-celebrity Tennis Tournament in 1977. Arnold has long been at the center of reports of flirting, groping and affairs - all of which he categorically denied. The source adds, "Their renewal of vows is going to be a celebration of a marriage they both consider to be a great success. I guess that's all that matters." »

Officials Want To Honor Arnie

13 August 2002 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Officials in Arnold Schwarzenegger's Austrian home town, Graz, are calling for a Terminator monument to mark the place's European Commission City Of Culture honor in 2003. Arnie has already been honored in the town when the soccer stadium was named Arnold Schwarzenegger Stadium in 1997, but now high-ranking fans want to honor their favorite son further. Dignitaries hope to erect a statue of Arnie in his Terminator guise. The third Terminator movie Rise Of The Machines will be released next year. A spokesman for the honor committee in Graz says, "Arnie is Graz's most important cultural export commodity and we'd like to combine the City of Culture honor and the release of Terminator 3 in style." »

Will Arnie Run For Governor?

3 August 2002 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Speculation is rife in America that Arnold Schwarzenegger will run for Governor of California in the 2006 election - against a fellow Hollywood bigwig. The fight would be an all-Tinseltown affair with the Republican Terminator star going up against Democrat Rob Reiner, director of such classic as This Is Spinal Tap, When Harry Met Sally and A Few Good Men. There has been no official confirmation yet, but both men have hired election consultants and strategists and are already active in U.S. state politics. »

Terminator 3 Shaping Up

18 July 2002 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Terminator 3 star Nick Stahl is relieved the new film is so good - because he's the sci-fi movie series' biggest fan. Stahl, who replaces Edward Furlong as John Connor in the latest sequel, calls 1991's Terminator 2 his favorite movie when he was growing up - so he's delighted Rise of the Machines, which is currently filming, looks even better than its predecessor. He says, "I saw the first one when I was really young. The second one was probably one of my favorite movies growing up. So I've seen that many times. It was a really interestingly conceived sort of story. And it's a great kind of commercial mix of dark, dark action and comedy. But I think the main aim was to basically up the stakes from the last one and to make the newest one even more groundbreaking. Because the second one, really nothing like that had been done before. And so I think in order to match that kind of enthusiasm, they have to really try that much harder as far as the story and the actual filming goes. And the effects, there's a lot of effects that are done these days that weren't available 10 years ago. In that way, visually, it's gonna be more realistic. It's hard to know how it's going to turn out, but if the script says anything I would say that it's definitely as good, if not better, than the last one." And Stahl, star of indie hits In the Bedroom and Bully, is unconcerned about replacing Furlong's notable performance as Connor in the previous Terminator. He adds, "I'm not trying to imitate anything about the character that's been done. I just don't think that that's really realistic or that's even possible. You have to kind of use your own arsenal. So I've really just tried to kind of make it my own," he says. »

Superman Arnie's Still In Shape For Terminator 3

11 February 2002 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Arnold Schwarzenegger is in such good shape he weighs exactly the same as he did when he last donned the Terminator jacket 12 years ago. The movie star has wowed producers of the planned Terminator 3 movie by revealing age hasn't changed him - he still weighs in at 220lbs. And his heart surgery to replace a defective valve four years ago, and a recent dance with death in a motorbike crash, which left him with broken ribs and a punctured lung, isn't going to stop him taking on action demands. He says, "I will try to be in as close to the shape I was in for the other movies. I don't want people to say, `Wait a minute, oh, it's 12 years later, so he's not as fit now. I don't want to go through the normal stages you see in medical books: Here's the young kid, here's 30, here's 40, and now begins the slouching, the deteriorating. I want to fight that. I want to be able to ski like I did when I was 20. I don't want to succumb to this mind-set of, `I'm 50 now, so I can't expect the same things.'" »
